HomeMy WebLinkAbout09 18 23 National Diaper Need Awareness WeekArmondoPavoneMayorWHEREAS,diaperneed,theconditionofnotbeingabletoaffordasufficientsupplyofcleandiapers,canadverselyaffectthehealthandwell-beingofchildrenandtheirfamilies;andMTFIEREAS,nationalsurveysandresearchstudiesreportthatnearlyoneintwofamiliesstruggleswithdiaperneed,and48percentoffamiliesdelaychangingadiapertoextendtheavailablesupply;and‘WHEREAS,adailyorweeklysupplyofdiapersisgenerallyaneligibilityrequirementforbabiesandtoddlerstoparticipateinchildcareprogramsandqualityearly-educationprogramsthatenablechildrentothriveandparentstowork;andM7I{EREAS,thepeopleofRentonrecognizethatdiaperneedisapublichealthissue,andaddressingdiaperneedcanleadtoeconomicopportunityforthecommunity’sfamiliesandimprovedhealthforchildren,thusensuringallchildrenandfamilieshaveaccesstothebasicnecessitiesrequiredtothriveandreachtheirfullpotential;andMlI{EREAS,Rentonappreciatestheworkoftrustedcommunity-basedorganizations,includingKidVantageandWestSideBaby,thatrecognizetheimportanceofdiapersinensuringhealthandprovidingeconomicstabilityforfamiliesandthusdistributediaperstofamiliesthroughvariouschannels;NO’W,THEREFORE,I,ArmondoPavone,MayoroftheCityofRenton,doherebyproclaimSeptember18through24,2023tobeNationalDiaperNeedAwarenessWeekintheCityofRenton,andIencouragetheRentoncommunitytodonategenerouslytodiaperbanks,diaperdrives,andorganizationsthatcollectanddistributediapers.iN‘WITNESSTHEREOF,IhavehereuntosetmyhandandcausedthesealoftheCityofRentontobeaffixedthis18thdayofSeptember,2023.ArmonPd’ne,MayorCityofPtonWashingtonPROCLAMATIONRentonCityHaIl,7thFloor1055SouthGradyWay,Renton,WA98057.rentoagcv’
