Here is a link to our City Code on initiatives.

Scroll down to the bottom and it speaks to initiatives and referendums.

Good afternoon Jason,
I was able to connect and relay the dates discussed in our phone call yesterday to the team that
will be verifying the signatures.
With the timing so tight from delivery on July 3to determining sufficiency or not by July 12, we
suggest passing a resolution with contingent language. With the ballot measure resolution due
on August 1, at the July 17 council meeting, council could pass a resolution calling for the
general election contingent on sufficiency of the petition. Signatures would continue to be
verified after the July 12date and completed before the August 1 resolution deadline. I don’t
have any former resolutions to cite as an example, but I would be happy to chat more about the
contingent resolution option if and when you’d like.
Kind regards,
Angie

I expect to receive an initiative petition in the next few days from a local group campaigning for a higher minimum wage
in Renton. Once I receive that petition I know I am to send it to King County Elections for signature verification. Is there a
specific point of contact I need to submit the documents too? I can also be reached by phone at 206-635-6100. Thank
you,
