This report addresses the Hearing Examiner’s concerns regarding trees 97-101 as described in the previous arborist reports for this project. The concerns are as follows: Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Please refer to the map in Figure 1 above for the location of these trees. Figure 4 Page 5 of 9 Trees 97-101 Maple Highlands (aka Chambers Plat) Cody Herron ABC Herron Tree LLC 425-293-2443 ISA Certified Arborist #PN-6967A Certified Tree Risk Assessor mountainredd@comcast.net Discussion and Conclusion Using the formula outlined on page 24 of the United States Department of Agriculture Tree Owner’s Manual (Adapted to the City of Renton) available on the city’s website at Tree Owner's Manual for the Northeastern and Midwestern United States, NA-FR-04=07 (civiclive.com) the Protected Root Zones (PRZ) for trees 97-101 are calculated by multiplying the Diameter at Breast Height of the tree times 1.5. This is the radius in feet from the trunk of the tree that is considered the PRZ. Figure 5 For trees # 97,98,99,100 and 101 disturbances within no more than one-third of the area within the outer half of the area within the PRZ of each tree should be allowed. It is not recommended to disturb the ground within the inner PRZ of each tree, which is the area encircling the base of a tree equal to one half the diameter of the PRZ. Excavation within the area of encroachment should be done by hand to the greatest extent possible to minimize root disturbance and damage. During excavation inside of the allowable area I will recommend that an arborist be onsite to perform root pruning as needed. Clean flush cutting of roots will help protect the tree from fungal infection and allow for proper healing. Changes in circumstances and conditions can also cause a rapid deterioration of a trees’ health and stability. Adverse amount of time. While I have used every reasonable means to examine these trees, this evaluation represents my opinion of the tree’s health at this point in time.
