SUBJECT: Recommendation for New Appointment to the Renton
Human Services Advisory Committee
There is one vacant seat on the Human Services Advisory Committee seat #1 expires
12/31/23. We are recommending that Ms. Ali Cohen be appointed to the vacant seat on the
Human Services Advisory Committee effective January 2024. A current roster is attached.
Ali Cohen is currently employed at Renton Technical College as an Associate Dean of
Transitional Studies. She is also the co-chair of the Economic Vitality Committee for Renton
Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Cohen has a bachelor's degree in special education and a
master's in public administration. The work that the Human Services Advisory Committee is
doing aligns with Ms. Cohen's passion and experience in building bridges between non-
profits, city resources and educational institutions. Ms. Cohen's goal is to embed herself in
initiatives that support Renton residents and support the idea of making Renton a model city
that provides services and resources to vulnerable populations.
