SUBJECT:Recommendation for Renton Airport Advisory Committee
Membership Appointments
The Public Works Department and its Airport Division would like to recommend the
following appointments to the Renton Airport Advisory Committee (RAAC).If the
appointments are approved,we request they take effect immediately due to vacancies.
The next RAAC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday,February 9.
Kennydale Neighborhood Primary Position:
The Airport Division is recommending appointment of Jeanne DeMund.Ms.DeMund
has held the RAAC’s Kennydale alternate position since February 2018.She holds a
Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies from Yale University,is a small business
owner and serves on several non-city related volunteer committees.Ms.DeMund is
considered a member of good standing and will assume the seat being vacated by RAAC
member Marleen Mandt,whose term would have expired May 7,2021.Ms.Mandt
served on the RAAC since its inception in 2001.If appointed,Ms.DeMund’s next term
would expire May 7,2024.
Kennydale Neighborhood Alternate Position:
Should Ms.DeMund be approved to serve as the Kennydale primary member,the
Kennydale alternate position would become vacant.Earlier this year,a RMC
application was received from Marcie Palmer.Ms.Palmer is a longtime Kennydale
resident who served as the Ken nydale primary member from May 2001 through 2004.
She then resigned as a result of being elected to serve on the City Council.Following the
conclusion of her Council career,Ms.Palmer served as the Kennydale alternate member
from February 1,2016-May 7,2017,when that particular term expired.In the past
Ms.Palmer has been heavily interested in the Renton Airport and as a Councilmember
and the Transportation/Aviation Committee Chair she was engaged in the Airport
Master Plan development.The term Ms.Palmer would fill is currently scheduled to
expire May 7,2023.This would also be the expiration date of the term if Ms.Palmer is
appointed.

The Renton Airport Advisory Committee solicits membership applications on an ongoing
basis.Recently Public Works staff met with the city’s Neighborhood Program team to
discuss working together to promote the RAAC membership opportunities to the
neighborhoods.We have recently started this partnership and hope to see an increase
in the number of applications received.The RAAC currently has the following vacancies:
Benson Hill Primary.
Benson Hill Alternate.
Highlands Alternate.
South Renton Alternate.
West Hill Alternate.
Airport Leaseholders Alternate.
In May 2021 the following seven terms are scheduled to expire:
Kennydale Primary (unless extended with the appointment of Ms.DeMund).
Renton Hill/Monterey Terrace Primary.
West Hill Primary.
Airport-at-Large Primary.
Airport Operators and Pilots Association Primary and Alternate.
Washington Pilots Association Primary.
Public Works Administration and Airport Division management are currently consulting
with these members to determine if any are interested in reappointment.
