Dear Ms. Carlson:
As you know, we represent the Boeing Company ("Boeing"). This letter is an
application for one map and two text amendments of the City of Renton
Comprehensive Plan. The requested amendments concern Comprehensive Plan
designations applicable to Boeing's Renton Plant and its Longacres Office Park
facility. Our application fee of $2,000 ($1,000 for Renton Plant area amendments,
$1,000 for the amendment related to Longacres Office Park) is enclosed. We would
appreciate notice of any further documentation that may be necessary to process these
applications, each of which is described below.
1. Employment Area -Transition (Interim)
a. Requested Text Amendment.
Amend the Employment Area -Transition designation to (a) clarify that both
existing and new industrial uses (so long as the underlying zoning was industrial as of
the effective date of the Employment Area -Transition designation) are authorized
and (b) remove the existing restriction of residential uses to the area west of Park
Avenue North. These changes are required to create adequate flexibility for a
potential shift from industrial to other uses on redevelopment sites subject to the
Employment Area -Transition designation.

b. Requested Map Amendment.
Amend the Comprehensive Plan map to designate Boeing's "Plant 10" property
(see Exhibit A, attached) as Employment Area -Transition (Interim).
2. Employment Area -Valley; Text Amendment
Amend the Employment Area -Valley designation to allow residential uses.
Boeing would like to enhance portions of its Longacres site (i.e., the site area south of
the Strander alignment), which is located within the Employment Area -Valley, with
the flexibility of some multi-family residential use.
Thank you for your assistance with these applications for Comprehensive Plan
amendment.
