This letter is regarding the Special Administrative Fence Permit LUA09-096, SF that was issued
for the fence located at 2005 Duvall Avenue NE, on September 18, 2009. The appeal period for
the permit ended on October 2,2009 and no appeals were filed, therefore, this decision is final.
As stated in the permit conditions, you are required to:
• The applicant shall relacate the fence five (5) feet from the sidewalk to provide for a five
(5) faat landscape strip alang Duvall Avenue NE.
• The applicant shall pravide five (5) feet of landscaping within the five foot setback along
Duvall Avenue NE. The applicant shall submit a landscape plan for approval by the
Planning Division Project Manager. The applicant must install the required landscaping
within 90 days of gronting af the fence permit.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION & ANALYSIS: The applicant is requesting to construct a six foot high
cedar fence along Duvall Avenue NE (the west property line). The proposed fence would be
similar in construction to other fences in the surrounding neighborhood. The length of the
fence along Duvall would be 95 feet in length and would connect to an existing fence located on
the north edge ofthe property. The southern section of fence would return approximately 20
feet to the house to enclose the yard with a gate. The applicant does not show any
landscaping, but notes that landscaping will be installed by the City of Renton. The fence would
not be located within the clear vision area of the corner of NE 19th Street and Duvall Avenue NE.

APPEALS: Appeals of permit issuance must be filed with the City of Renton Hearing Examiner
by 5:00 p.m_ on October 2, 2009. Appeals must be filed in writing, together with the required

RE: Special Fence Permit -2005 Duval Ave
I am writing on behalf of the owner, Vicki Huang to request for the approval to construct a 6'
high fence along Duvall Ave at 2005 Duval Ave. NE.
The fence will be constructed with cedar similar to that of several neighboring properties, see
attached photos. The owner has corresponded with the Duvall project manager and he has told
us that the city of Renton will provide the landscaping required in front of the fence with the
Duvall Project.
We propose that the fence be built as close to the sidewalk as allowed due to the recent
expansion of the ROW by the city into the subject property.
