NARRATIVE
On 6/29/2024 at 2255 hours, I was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the 1900 block of NE 3rd
St in the City of Renton, King County, Washington.
Pre-Collision
Unit 1's driver stated that he was traveling East on NE 3rd St in the number 2 lane approaching the
1900 block.
Unit 2's driver stated that she was traveling West on NE 3rd St approaching the 1900 block in the
number 2 lane.
Collision
Unit 1's driver stated that he observed a vehicle behind him approaching rapidly in the number 1 lane.
Unit 1's driver stated that this startled him and he maneuvered his vehicle left and into the oncoming
lanes of travel to avoid a collision from behind, even though the vehicle approaching from the rear
was in a separate lane. Unit 1's driver stated that when he did this, he was unable to avoid Unit 2 and
the right passenger side of Unit 1 collided with the front passenger side of Unit 2, causing substantial
damage to both vehicles.
Unit 2's driver stated that when she approached the 1900 block, she observed Unit 1 pull into her lane
and was unable to slow or maneuver to avoid a collision. Unit 2's driver stated that the front
passenger side of Unit 2 collided with the front passener side of Unit 1.
Injuries
The passenger within Unit 1 that was sitting in the front passegner seat was unnble to stand under his
own power and was found laying on the sidewalk just North of the collision. Both him and the driver of
Unit 1 were transported via ambulance for treatment.
Vehicle dispositions
Both vehicles were rendered inoperable and towed by Bankers.
Proximate Cause
In Unit 1's driver had not entered into the wrong lane of travel and over the marked double yellow
enter line, then this collision would not have happened.
Final disposition
Driver 1 did violate RCW 46.61.150 because a vehicle shall be driven as nearly as practicable
entirely within a single lane and shall not be moved from such lane until the driver has first
ascertained that such movement can be made with safety.
Driver 1 was also unable to provide me with valid insurance and advised that he did not have
insurance. Driver 1 also did not provide me with registration for the vehicle.
Driver 1 did violate RCW 46.30.020 because no person may operate a motor vehicle subject to
registration under chapter 46.16A RCW in this state unless the person is insured under a motor
vehicle liability policy with liability limits of at least the amounts provided in RCW 46.29.090.
Driver 1 did violate RCW 46.16A.180.2 because it is unlawful for any person to operate or be in
possession of a vehicle without carrying a registration certificate for the vehicle. Any person in charge
of a vehicle shall, upon demand of any of the local authorities or of any police officer or of any
representative of the department, permit an inspection of the vehicle registration certificate.
Driver 1 was cited for each of these RCW's.
