Project Description: The Cedar River Trail heads south from the levee on the northern
tip of Cedar River Trail Park. There are actually two Trail beginnings, one on the rise of
the northern tip of the levee, and the other to the east along the adjacent parking lot.
From either of these points, there isn't an ADA access across Nishiwaki Lane to the
nearby boathouse and pier. This project is requesting a shoreline exemption for normal
maintenance or repair of existing structure or developments, in order to provide an ADA
route.
This project will extend the lower paved walk from the parking spaces, for about 140
linear feet, parallel to Nishiwaki Lane. At the northern tip of the grass bermed island, the
new six foot wide concrete walk will ramp down to a landing, directly across from a
sidewalk ramp on the north side of the drive. New crosswalk striping will provide access
to the existing ramp and sidewalk, and towards the pier and boathouse.
Work is anticipated to occur between August 29, 2011 and September 7,2011.
There are no speCial features of this site, and the location of the closest part of the new
walk is approximately 120 lineal feet from the ordinary high water mark of the Cedar
River. It is estimated that less than 15 cubic yards of soil will be excavated and removed
for the walkway and to regrade the berm .
The total estimated construction cost for this project is $9,000 .00 .
