ED72239 CASE# 23-6864 OF COLLISION 06/16/23 10:35 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE 23-6864 On 06/16/2023 at approximately 1043 hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury and non-blocking vehicle collision at the intersection of NE 12th ST and Monroe Ave NE, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. Upon my arrival, 1 confirmed there were no complaints of injury requiring immediate medical response at the time of report. There, I was able to collect each involved party's information and independent summary of the events leading up to the collision. The driver of Unit#1 said she was the sole occupant of her vehicle and was traveling northbound on Monroe Ave NE and approaching the intersection of NE 12th ST. The driver of Unit#1 stated that she was intending to make a right at the intersection to proceed eastbound onto NE 12th ST. The driver of Unit#1 stated she stopped at the stop-sign controlled intersection. The driver of Unit#1 stated that she believed traffic was clear when she noticed Unit#2 pass in front of her vehicle. The driver of Unit #1 believed Unit#2 was speeding and that subsequently both Unit#1 and Unit#2 collided in the roadway causing minor damage to the front driver's side bumper and quarter panel of Unit#1. The driver of Unit#2 said she was the sole occupant of her vehicle and was traveling eastbound in about the 3300 block of NE 12th ST approaching the intersection of Monroe Ave NE in lane 2 of 2. The driver of Unit#2 stated she was had just exited her private residence less than a block away from the above mentioned intersection and was intending to continue straight through the uncontrolled intersection for her direction of travel. The driver of Unit#2 stated that upon reaching the intersection, Unit#1 failed to stop at the intersection and collided into the passenger side doors of Unit#2 causing moderate damage. Based on the above statements, 1 determined that the Driver of Unit#1 (Salas Pinon) was the predominant factor for the cause of collision as Salas Pinon did not grant the right of way to traffic already in the roadway and underway. Salas Pinon violated RCW 46.61.190(2) as every driver of a vehicle approaching a stop sign roadway shall stop where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of roadways. Salas Pinon was listed as `Not Licensed -Eligible' per a DOL records check. I cited Salas Pinon via mail for NVOL-with Identification. I issued Salas Pinon a verbal warning for Failing to Stop/Yield at an intersection causing a collision. Both Unit#1 and Unit#2 were able to be driven away without further incident.
