NARRATIVE
On 06/23/2023 at about 1041 hours I was working uniform marked patrol as 1 R15 when I was
dispatched to an occupied hit and run non-injury motor vehicle collision in the 2100 block of SW
Sunset Blvd within the city limits of Renton, King County, Washington. Upon arrival I saw Unit 1
(white colored 2018 Nissan Versa Note with Washington license plate C19454N) pointed eastbound
while off on the shoulder in the westbound lane of SW Sunset Blvd just across from the Sunset View
Apartments (2101 SW Sunset Blvd). Unit 2 (hit and run vehicle) was not on scene. There were no
reported injuries, and Unit 1 was unable to be driven from the scene.
Keana R. Walker (driver of Unit 1) was driving eastbound on SW Sunset Blvd when she saw Unit 2
exit the Sunset View Apartments (entrance/exit located on the east end of the complex) and stop in
the eastbound lane of SW Sunset Blvd near the yellow colored lane dividers. Unit 2's position
blocked eastbound traffic. It appeared Unit 2 was attempting to make a left (westbound) turn onto
SW Sunset Blvd. Keana was unable to avoid colliding into Unit 2. The front passenger side of Unit 1
struck the front driver side area of Unit 2. Unit 1 ended up along the shoulder in the westbound lane
of SW Sunset Blvd. Keana last saw Unit 2 head westbound on SW Sunset Blvd.
Keana was unable to describe the driver of Unit 2, but she described Unit 2 as a gold colored mid
2000s model Honda four door sedan with an Oregon state license plate on the rear of the car and a
temporary license tag on the rear windshield of the vehicle.
Two witnesses (Brianna R. Newton and Joshua A. Newton) were in a car together headed westbound
on SW Sunset Blvd when they both saw the collision. They turned into the Sunset View Apartments
driveway (entrance/exit located at the west end of the complex) and saw Unit 2 pull in behind them.
Brianna and Joshua exited their vehicle, but Unit 2 drove off westbound on SW Sunset Blvd before
they had a chance to confront the driver of Unit 2.
Joshua described Unit 2 as a gold colored 2000s model Lexus 4 door sedan, and the door molding
on Unit 2 was grey in color. According to Brianna and Joshua Unit 2 had both a driver and passenger
inside the vehicle, but only Joshua was able to describe the driver. The description of the passenger
was unknown. Joshua described the driver of Unit 2 as a Hispanic female, 20s in age, heavy build,
black colored shoulder length hair, wearing a grey colored pullover style sweatshirt. Joshua said he
would be able to recognize the driver of Unit 2 again if he saw her. Brianna said she did not get a
good look at the driver of Unit 2. Briana did remember seeing the car parked past building C in the
Sunset View Apartments complex in the past, and she suspected the owner of the car lives at the
apartment complex. I spoke to staff at the Sunset View Apartments, but no one recognized the
description I gave of Unit 2.
The identity of the driver of Unit 2 is unknown at this time. There were no surveillance cameras seen
posted nearby that would have captured the collision. Unit 1 was towed from the scene. 1 completed
a collision report and gave Keana a Renton PD business card with the case number.
