Limitations of Assignment: This report is limited to a Level 2 Assessment of the site and the trees. It is not a risk assessment, structural assessment, or comprehensive health assessment. The report is limited to the scope of the assignment. Methodology: To evaluate the tree, as well as to prepare this report, I drew upon my 18+ years of experience in the field of arboriculture and my formal education. I followed the protocol of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and I performed my assessment using and/or considering the following Best Management Practices: ANSI A300 Part 2 – Soil Management a.) Modification b.) Fertilization & c.) Drainage. ANSI A300 Part 5 – Managing Trees During Site Planning, Site Development, and Construction. ANSI A300 Part 8 – Root Management. ANSI A300 Part 9 – Tree Risk Assessment (Second Edition). ISA BMP’s – Tree Inventories (Second Edition 2013) Best Management Practices were developed to aid in the interpretation of professional standards and guide work practices based upon current science and technology. This is a scientifically based process to look at the entire site, surrounding land, and soil, as well as a general look at the trees themselves. Site History: June 2024 failure of 30’ long branch damaged nearby fence and Japanese maple tree. These trees appear to be remnants of a hedge. Pictures and comments: Tree #12-14 Leyland Cypress; Cuprocyparis leylandii, each 12” DSH, 45’ tall, pictured July 2024. Targets such as a fence are present within the dripline. These are healthy trees with 100% live canopy ratio. While healthy, these trees are starting to succumb to 1 7/6/2024 defects such as overextended branches, codominant leads and included bark. As the trees age, these defects begin to become more problematic. Due to the damage caused by the recent failure and the trees questionable condition I recommend removal, stump grind and replacement of these trees. 2 7/6/2024 Certification: I, Eric B.
