HomeMy WebLinkAbout5_PN_FHMIC Project Narrative 2024 City of Renton To: Jill Ding, Senior Planner City of Renton Planning Division 1055 S Grady Way Renton, WA 98057 From: Dawa Loga Kamanga Fountain of Hope Ministries International Church 300 So 3rd St Renton WA 98057 Project Narrative Establishment of Fountain of Hope Ministries International Church Building as a Religious Facility/Church Dear Jill Ding, Fountain of Hope Ministries International Church is working on establishing our church location on 300 S 3rd St Renton, WA 98057 as an official religious facility/church. At this point of time, it is classified as a funeral home by the City of Renton with the last church failing to move on from their temporary use permit. Fountain of Hope was made aware of this during our preapplication meeting. In order for the building to now have the proper land assignment as we proceed to operate our church at the northeast corner of S 3rd Ave and S Shattuck Ave S, we are providing this narrative and attached documentation to be approved for our Conditional Use Permit. Fountain of Hope Ministries International Church is on Parcels 0007200184 & 0007200157. Within the two parcels, we have a parking lot consisting of 23 stalls and an existing building of 7005 sq feet. The 2 parcels have a Center Downtown (CD) zoning classification that is within the Urban Design District A. At this point of time, we are applying for a conditional use permit to properly assign the two parcels containing a parking lot and building as a religious facility/church. We will not be adding nor removing anything structurally on the parcels. With adequate funding achieved in the future, we do have a wish list of creating accommodating space so that we can truly operate in our vision of bring hope to the hopeless and salvation to the lost souls. With this vision we want to help bring stability to the underserved BIPOC community whether youth, adult, or elderly. To bring this vision to life fully in our building, this would be converting our garage space into a community outreach support space with a recreation area, commercial kitchen, shower, and two bathrooms for those in need of basic resources to support creating positive outcomes in their lives. The commercial kitchen would also provide us with the space to expand our meal service and food pantry. Our wish list for outside of the building is to utilize part of the parking lot and pavement space with the gated portion of the parcel to create a welcoming outdoor environment with picnic tables, a gardening space, and outdoor futsal/basketball court. We are wanting to provide a space where the those we are serving have a safe space to learn about sports, outdoor life skills, and to build community and connecting. The creation of a futsal and basketball space would still be used for parking during our days of church service. Thank you, Dawa Loga Kamanga
