The plans did not indicate the presence of reinforced cement concrete pavement
from approx. STA 28+58 to approx. STA 39+00. As such, this condition could not
have been known at the time of bid submission. The reinforced cement concrete
pavement requires additional work to break down for haul out and disposal, in
addition to higher disposal fees. Consequently, the discovery and processing of
the reinforced cement concrete pavement represents a changed condition from
what was initially anticipated and planned for in the contract documents.
23-1335 — Additional Cost to Dispose of Reinforced Cement Concrete Pavement for

Reference Project: CAG-22-163, Rainier Ave S Corridor Improvements - Phase 4 Project
Subject: PCO-18, Rebar found in Pavement
Mrs. Michelle Faltaous:
As requested by the City of Renton's project team, Pivetta Brothers Construction, Inc (Pivetta) has
reviewed our pricing for the rebar encountered within the concrete pavement north of STA 28+75. To
simplify the City's review we have adjusted the pricing to show the original expected costs (concrete
without rebar) verse the new expected costs (concrete with rebar).
The expected additional cost to remove the reinforced concrete pavement is $24,656.61(see attached
breakdown).
Please feel free to contact me, at (206) 914-2723 if you have any questions or concerns.
