NEW BUSINESS #5052 – Request Board review for Long-Term Care/In-Home Care Kinal Ha informed the Board that the retiree passed away on August 23rd. The retiree's family adjusted their request due to the passing of the retiree. They asked the Board to approve the cost of in-home care provided from August 12th to August 23rd, which amounts to a modified request from an ongoing monthly reimbursement. Kinal Ha presented the geographic region average ranges for similar care, which varied from $5,600 to $7,100 per month. During the discussion, James Alberson Jr. inquired whether the requested amount of $33,480 was spent or anticipated. Kinal clarified that it was an anticipated amount based on the information provided. The daily rate calculated to be roughly $1,000, or a total of $11,000 for the eleven days that the retiree was alive and receiving care. There was discussion about setting precedent in approving long term care expenses that are already incurred. Alex Tuttle stated that it would be up to the Board to set precedents and emphasized the importance of consistency to avoid potential appeals or challenges in the future. Russ Olsen suggested a one-time payment at the maximum rate of $7,100 for the month instead of the calculated $11,000.
