1-07.17 UTILITIES AND SIMILAR FACILITIES (ADDITIONAL SECTION)
LOCATION AND DIMENSIONS SHOWN ON THE PLANS FOR EXISTING LNDEROROUND FACILITIES ARE IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE BEST AVAILABLE INFORMATION WITHOUT LNCOVERING AND MEASURING. THE OWNER DOES NOT GUARANTEE
THE SIZE AND LOCATION OF EXISTING FACILITIES.
IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO (MNTACT ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE COMPANIES HAVING
UTILITIES AND/OR FACILITIES IN THE VICINITY OF THE CONSTRUCTION AREA.

IF, IN THE PROSECUTION OF THE WORK, IT BECOMES NECESSARY TO INTEW-PT EXISTING SURFACE DRAINAGE,
SEWERS, LNDERDRAINS, CONDUIT, UTILITIES, SIMILAR UNDERGROUND STRUCTURES, OR PARTS THEREOF, THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, AND SHALL TAKE ALL NECESSARY PRECAUT1016 TO PROTECT AND
PROVIDE TEMPORARY SERVICES FOR SAME.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL, AT HIS OWN EXPENSE, REPAIR ALL DAMAGE TO SUCH FACILITIES OR STRUCTURFS DUE TO
THIS CONSTRUCTION OPERATION TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE CITY; EXCEPT FOR CITY OWNED FACILITIES WHICH
%ILL BE REPAIRED BY rdE UTILITY DEPARTMENT AT rONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE, OR BY THE CONTRACTOR AS
DIRECTED BY THE CITY.
1-07.23(l) PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND SAFETY (ADDITIONAL SECTION)
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY BY MAIL ALL PROPERTY OWNERS ALONG THE CONSTRUCTION AREA PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY ALL LOCAL POLICE, TRANSIT, AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS BY MAIL
PRIOR TO CONSTRLJCTION. NAMES AND ADDRESSES WILL BE FLFN19-1ED BY THE OWNER. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
FURTHER MOTIFY EACH OCCUPANT IN PERSON A MINIMUM OF THREE DAYS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION IN FRONT OF
EACH PROPERTY.

FLAGMEN, BARRICADES, SIGNS AND TRAFFIC CONTROL FURNISHED SHALL CONFORM TO THE STANDARDS ESTABLISHED
IN THE LATEST ADOPTED EDITION OF TFE 'MANUAL ON LJNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES-, PUBLI94FO BY THE
U. S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.
COPIES MAY BE PURCHASED FROM THE SLF"INTENDE)Iff OF DOCUMENTS, U. S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE,
WASHINGTON, D.C., 20402. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMPLEMENT THE TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN(S) APPEARING IN
THE CONTRACT PLANS, AS APPLICABLE. IF THE CC"TRACTOR'S PLAN OF OPERATIONS IS IN CONFLICT WITH THE
CONTRACT TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN, HE KAY PROPOSE MODIFICATION OF THE TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN BY S40WING
THE NECESSARY CONSTRUCTION SIGNS AM BARRICADES REQUIRED FOR THE PROXCT, AND SUBMIT IT TO THE
ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL AT LEAST TEN DAYS IN ADVANCE OF THE TIME THE SIGNS AND BARRICADES WILL BE
REQUIRED.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL, AT HIS OWN EXPENSE PROVIDE ALL SIGNS, BARRICADES, GL"RES, FLAGMEN , AND
EQUIPMENT, CONSTRUCTION WARNINGS, AND NIGHT LIGHTS IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC AT ALL TIMES FROM
INJURY AS OF RESULT OF HIS OPERATIONS (SEE M.U.T.C.D.). IF THE CONTRACTOR SHOtJLD FAIL TO MAINTAIN
SUFFICIENT LIGHTS AND BARRICADES, IN THE OPINION OF THE ENGINEER, THE CITY SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO
PROVIDE THESE LIGHTS AND BARRICADES AND DEDUCT SUCH COSTS FROM PAYMENTS DUE THE CONTRACTOR. WORK
SHALL BE RESTRUCTURED, THE ORDER OF WORK MODIFIED, THE HOl-lRS OF WORK MODIFIED OR THE ktW HALTED
ALTOGETHER AT THE ENGINEER'S DISCRETION' WHEN THE ENGINEER FINDS SUCH A COURSE OR COLlRSES OF ACTION
NECESSARY TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC OR THE CONTRACTOR'S SAFETY, HEA�TH, AND WELFARE
ALL SIGNS RE -MOVED SHALL BE SALVAGE AIC DELIVERED TO THE CITY YARD.
