ALL COSTS IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROTECTION AND WvE)4ENT OF VEHICULAR AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC SHALL
BE CONSIDERED INCIDENTAL TO THE WORK INVOLVED OR SHALL BE INCLUDE IN THE LUMP SUM PRICE ITEM
IN THE PROJECT.
TRAFFIC CONTROL- IF SUCH AN ITEM IS I—L
TRAFFIC MOVEMENT SHALL HEREIN BE DEFINED AS APPLYING TO BOTH VEHICULAR AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC. THE
AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE
ENGINEER sHAj_L BE THE CITY OF RENTON PUBLIC WM(S DIRECTOR OR HIS DULY IS A
(i.e. FROJECT ENGINEER, INSPECTOR) AS L_-ED THROUGHOUT THIS SPECIFICATION. THE FDLLOWING
SLb*4ArY OF REGULATIONS THAT WILL APPLY TO TRAFFIC CONIROL OPERATIONS ON THIS PROJECT, BUT DOE NOT
LIMIT OR SUPERSEDE OTHER REGULATIONS OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS:
1. THE -MANLkqL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES FOR STREETS AND HIGHWAYS-, AS WELL AS THE
FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION (FHWA) -TRAFFIC CONTROL IN CONSTRUCTICA AND MAINTENANCE WORK
ZCNES- TECHNICAL REPORT MAY 197-7, 94ALLL BE USED AS A GUIDELINE FOR THIS PROJECT.
2. AT THE PROJECT PRE -CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DISCUSS HIS TRAFFIC CONTROL
PLAN AND DESIGNATE THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL AT THE WORK SITE- THE TCP SHALL
INCLUDE DESCRIPTIONS OF THE TRAFFIC C3NTROL METHODS AND DEVICE' TO BE BY THE PRIME
CONTRACTOR/SUB-CONTRACTORS AND WILL BE SUBJECT TO REVIEW AND APPROVAL BY THE ENGINEER.
3. OWING ALL PHA� OF CONSTRUCTION, TRAFFIC mOVEMENT SHALL BE MAINTAINED AS NEAR NORMAL AS
POSSIBLE AND REASONABLE ACCESS MAINTAINED TO PROPERTIES ADJACENT TO THE RIGHT OF WAY LINE.
A. ALL TRAVELED PORTIONS OF ROADWAYS WILL BE OPEN TO TRAJ"_FIC DURING PEAK TRAFFIC PERIODS, 6-30 TO
8:30 A.M. AND 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. OR AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER.
5. ON OR BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF WORK AFFECTING TRAVELED ROADWAY, THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE REQUIRED
TO HAVE THE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES To BE USED INSPECTED AND APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER AS TO
COMPLIANCE WITH MUTCD/FHWA STANDARDS. NO WOW 94PLL BE DONE ON OR ADJACENT TO THE- ROADWAY
UNTIL ALL NECESSARY SIGNS AND TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ARE IN PLACE.
6. WOW SITE TRAFFIC CONTROL WILL BE SUBJECT TO PERIODIC INSPECTION BY THE ENGINEER; THE
CONTRACTOR WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE TIMELY AND APPROPRIATE ACTION TO CORRECT CONDITIONS THA-
ARE UNSAFE OR CAUSING UNDUE DELAY M TRAFFIC MOVEMENT.
7� IF THE CONTRACTOR FAILS TO TAKE SUCH TIMELY AND APPROPRIATE CORRECTIVE ACTION, THE ENGINEER CAN
ORDER A STOP TO FURTHER WOW UNTIL THE CONDITIONS ARE CORRECTED, OR ORDER CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TO
BE PERFORMED BY OTHERS WITH ALL COSTS INCURRED THEREOF DEDLICTED FROM PAYMM S DUE OR COMING DUE
THE CONTRACTOR.
THE CWTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ADEQUATE FLAGMEN, BARRICADES, LIGHTS AM SIGNS
FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE WORK AND THE PUBLIC AT ALL TIMES, AND THE CONTRACTOR AND HIS SURETY SHAL'
BE LIABLE FOR INJURIES AND DAMAGES TO PERSONS AND PROPERTY SUFFERED By REASON OF THE CONTRACTOR'S
OPERA71ONS OR PXY NEGLIGENCE IN CONNECTION THEREIN.
