(09)A CONNECTION TO EXISTING MAINS (REPLACEMENT SECTION) CONTRACTOR INSTALLED CONNECTIONS: CONNECTIONS TO THE EXISTING WATER MAIN SHALL NOT BE MADE WITHOUT FIRST MAKING THE NECESSARY ARRAN(2D'lEhfTS WITH THE ENGINEER IN ADVANCE. WORK SMALL NOT BE STARTED UNTIL ALL THE MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT, PkMD LABOR NECESSARY TO PROPERLY COMPLETE THE WORK ARE ASSEMBLED ON THE SITE. EXISTING WATER MAINS SHALL BE CUT BY THE CONTRACTOR. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE THE PORTIONS OF PIPE TO PROVIDE FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE REQUIRED FITTINGS AT THE POINTS OF CONNECTION. ALL DAMAGE CAUSED BY TIC CONTRACTOR'S OPERATIONS TO EXISTING JOINTS IN PIPING TO REMAIN IN- SERVICE SHALL BE REPAIRED BY THE CONTRACTOR AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE STATE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DETERMINE THE CKACT LENGTH OF EXISTING WATER MAIN THAT MUST BE REMOVED. THE PIPE ENDS SMALL BE BEVELLED TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE TRANSITION COUPLING GASKET DURING INSTALLATION OF THE COUPLING. THE EXTERIOR OF THE EXISTING PIPE END SHALL BE CLEANED TO A SOUND, SMWTH FINISH BEFORE INSTP-LATION OF THE COUPLING. TRANSITION CX*-..INGS SHALL BE INSTALLED BY THE CONTRACTOR AND SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH A PLASTIC FILM WRAP. THE PLASTIC FILM WRAP SHALL BE WRAPPM LOOSELY AROUND THE PIPE, FITTINGS, AND COUPLINGS, Af!D SECURED WITH 2-INCH WIDE POLYETHYLENE ADHESIVE TAPE.
