COUPLINGS ARE INSTALLED SHALL BE WRAPPED A MINIMUM OF 3 FEET ON EACH SIDE OF THE COUPLING. ALL

ADHESIVE TAPE. THE PLASTIC FILM WRAP NEED NOT BE WATERTIGHT, BUT NO PART OF THE PIPE OR
COUPLING SHALL BE EXPOSED TO THE BACKFILL. CARE SHALL BE EXERCISED DURING BACKFILLING TO
PREVENT 111E PLASTIC FILM WRAP FROM 13EING PUNCTURED OR OTHERWISE DAPtAGED. PLASTIC FILM WRAP AND
ITS INSTALLATION SHALL CONFORM TO AWWA C105 EXCEPT AS MODIFIED HEREIN.

CITY INSTALLED CONNECTIONS:
CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING PIPING AND TIE-INS ARE INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS. THE CONTRACTOR MUST
VERIFY ALL EXISTING PIPING, DIMENSIONS, AND ELEVATIONS TO ASSURE PROPER FIT.
CONNECTIONS TO THE EXISTING WATER MAIN SHALL NOT BE MADE WITHOUT FIRST MAKING THE NECESSARY
ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE ENGINEER IN ADVANCE. WOW SHALL NOT BE STARTED UNTIL ALL THE MATERIALS,
EQUIPMENT AND LABOR NECESSARY TO PROPERLY COMPLETE THE WORK ARE ASSEMBLED JN THE SITE.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL MATERIALS NECESSARY TO INSTALL ALL CONNECTIONS AS INDICATED ON
THE CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PERFORM THE EXCAVATION, BEDDING, AND BACKFILL,
AND PROVIDE CONCRETE BLOCKING FOR THE CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING MAINS. THE CITY WILL CUT THE
EXIFTING MAIN AND ASSEMBLE ALL MATERIALS.
WHEN THE CITY MAKES THE -CONNECTIONS To THE EXISTING SYSTEll ALL LABOR, MAT-ERIALS, AN1D EQUIPMENT
REQUIRED OF THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE CONSIDERED INCIDENTAL P#,10 ALL RELATED COSTS SHOULD BE
INCLI 1-4 OTHER ITEMS OF WORK.
7-11.3(il) HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE TEST (REPLACEMENT SECTION)
ALL WATER MAINS AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE TESTED UNDER A HYDROSIATIC PRESSURE EQUAL TO 150 PSI IN
EXCESS OF THAT UNDER WHICH THEY WILL OPERATE. IN NO CASE SHALL THE TEST PRESSURE BE LESS THAN 200
PSI. ALL PUMPS, GAUGES, PLUGS, SADDLES, CORPORATION STOPS, MISCELLANEOUS HOSE AND PIPING, AND
OTHER EQUIPMENT NECESSARY FOR PERFOF04ING THE TEST SHALL BE FURNISHED A6ND OPERATED BY THE
CONTRACTOR. THE PIPELINE TRENCH SHALL BE BACKFILLED SUFFICIENTLY TO PREVENT MOVEMENT OF THE PIPE
L#4DER PRESSURE. ALL THRUST BLOCKS SHALL BE IN PLACE AND SUFFICIENTLY CURED TO REACH DESIGN
STRENGTH BEFORE TESTING. WERE PERMANENT BLOCKING IS NOT REQUIRED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH
AND INSTALL TEMPORARY BLOCKING AND REMOVE IT AFTER TESTING.
