9-29.7 LUMINAIRE FUSINGS AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS AT LIGHT STANDARD BASES (REPLACEMENT SECTION)
ELECTRICAL D1SCONNECTS SHALL BC INSTALLED AT ALL LIGHT STANDARD BASES. FUSE HCl_DERS SHALL BE
-WATERPROOF, QUICK DISCONNlECT TYPE, S.E.C. OR APPROVED EQUAL. FUSED QUICK D7SCONNECT KITS SHALL
'PROVIDE WATERPROOF IN LINE FUSE PROTECTION. ALL CONNECTIONS SHALL BE MADE WITH COMPRESSION
-FITTINGS. UPON DISCONNECT, THE FUSE SHALL RFMAIN IN THE LOAD SIDE OF THE KIT.
THE FUSES SMALL BE LOCATED IN TWO LOCATIONS, THE FIRST BEING INSIDE TIC HAND HOLE AT THE BASE OF
-THE POLE AND THE SECOND BEING PR9VIDED FOR THE COMPLETE STREET LIGHT SERVICE (IF SPECIFIED) SHALL
*BE LOCATED IN A TYPE 'B" JUNCTION BOX AS WAR AS PRACTICAL TO THE ELECTRICAL UTILITY COMPANY'S
NVALLT OR POLE (SOURCE OF POWER FOR THE SYSTEN). FUSES FURNISIED FOR ALL LIGHTING CIRCUITS SMALL
BE -CAPABLE OF HANDLING THE OPERATING VOLTAGES OF THE CIRCUIT INVOLVED AND SHALL HAVE THE FOLLOWING
"CHARACTERISTICS:
1. FUSES SHALL BE CAPABLE OF INDEFINITELY SUPPORTING 110% OF THE RATED LOAD.
2. FUSES SHALL BE CAPA13LE OF SUPPORTING 135% OF THE RATED LOAD FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR.
3. A LOAD OF 200% OF RATED LOAD WILL EFFECTIVELY CAUSE INSTANTANEOUS SLOWING OF THE FUSE.
4. FUSES SHALL BE RATED AS LISTED BELOW AND SHALL BE SIZED TO FIT THE FUSE CONTAINERS

150 WATT S55, 200 WATT 566, 250 WATT S50, kO0 WATT S51. BALLASTS FOR H.P. SODIUM VAPOR LAMPS SHALL
— BE AN INTERNAL 240-VOLT REGULATOR -TYPE (HIGH POWER FACTOR).
THE BALLAST SHALL BE PRE -WIRED TO THE LAMP SOCKET AND TERMINAL BOARD. THE BALLAST SHALL HAVE AN
ALLOWABLE VOLTAGE VARIATION OF LESS THAN 10%. NO CAPACITOR, TRANSF0111MER , OR OTHER DEVICE 94ALL
EMPLOY THE CLASS OF COMPOUNDS IDENTIFIED AS POLYCHLORINATED BIPHENYLS (P.C.B.) AS DIELECTRIC.
COOL -ANTS, OR FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE. EACH BALLAST SHALL HAVE A MAW PLATE PTTACHED PERMANENTLY TO
THE CASE LISTING ALL ELECTRICAL DATA.

ALL LUMINAIRES SHALL BE OF THE Dj��TRIBUTION TYPE AND WATTAGE INDICATED IN THE PLANS.
