I have attached a completed Critical Areas Exemption application and a plan sheet showing the proposed boring locations. The holes are approximately 4” diameter. There are five locations, see attached plan sheet/map that lie within City owned properties, including: R2B-23vw-17 and RB-21-17 are located within May Creek Buffer zone. To minimize disturbance to the stream buffer, the crew will access the location through WSDOT roadway right of way. Woody plants in the stream buffer will not be disturbed. Disturbed soil/mulch will be stabilized with new mulch or straw after drilling work is complete. Borings RB-22, RB-24 and RB-S27 are located in the wetland east of I-405. Access will be on foot with portable drilling equipment. Live woody vegetation will not be damaged. Some dead fallen wood and blackberry vines will need to be cleared to gain access. Bare soil remaining after the drilling will be covered with straw mulch to prevent erosion. Thank you. Please let me know if you need any further information to process this request. Sincerely, Linda Cooley Environmental Permit/Compliance Lead WSDOT NWR Design Build Office 425-456-8586 206-769-7481
