A check of permit records on June 12,2018, indicated a building permit application for the illegal carport has not been submitted to the city for review. Code Text: RMC 4-5-060 Construction Administrative Code 2. 101.2 Scope. The provisions of the Construction Administrative Code shall apply to building, plumbing, and mechanical permits and the"Construction Codes":the International Building Code(IBC) and the International Residential Code(IRC)which regulates the construction, alteration, relocation, enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment, use and occupancy, location, maintenance, removal and demolition of every building or structure or any appurtenances connected or attached to such buildings or structures in the City. RMC 4-5-050 International Building Code B.Applicability. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convert, demolish,equip, use, occupy or maintain any building or structure in the city, or cause or permit the same to be done, contrary to or in violation of any of the provisions of this Code. RMC 4-5-060.E Permits. 1. 105.1 Required.Any owner or owner's authorized agent who intends to construct,enlarge, alter, repair, move,demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install,enlarge, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical,or plumbing system,the installation of which is regulated by the Construction Codes and the Construction Administrative Code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the building official to obtain the required permit. 9. 105.4 Validity of Permit.The issuance or granting of a permit shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of the Construction Codes and the Construction Administrative Code or of any other ordinance of the jurisdiction. Permits presuming to give authority to violate or cancel provisions of the Construction Codes and the Construction Administrative Code or other ordinances of the jurisdiction shall not be valid.The issuance of a permit based on construction documents and other data shall not prevent the building official from requiring correction of errors in the construction documents and other data. The building official is also Page 1 of 3 authorized to prevent occupancy or use of a structure where in violation of the Construction Codes and the Construction Administrative Code or of any other ordinances of this jurisdiction.
