manufacturer to be built in accordance with the U.S. Department of

effect on the date the home was manufactured.

3, Human Services cuts at federa) and state level: Karen will get Renton and King County specific data to
see what these cuts mean for the community. She will share that informa�ion with the Committee �
when it Es availa�le. In the s�ort term, we should expect to see more support needed for the homeless.
Con�ersations will be held a�the sub-regiona! level to explore things that can E�e done to increase
efficiencies, a[low communities to do mo�-e with less, and avoid duplication of effarts.
�l. �undin Frocess - U date: Terry H[gashiyama, Community Servic�s Adrr�inistrator, and Karen met with
Terri Briere, Council President, to discuss the funding process that the Committee is using and seek her
feedE�ack. The good things that Human Ser�ices staff were doing was discussed (Meet and Greet with
agencies, ca�acity building, technical assistance) and it was decided to share this with Council in the fall.
5. Veterans and Human Services Le�v; This 1e�y, which is on the August 16, 2011, bal[ot, is critical to
Renton resider�ts. It funds t�e Veterans Cer�ter at WorkSource Renton, pro�iding services facally and
preventing veterans from having ta go downtown for assistance. It alsa supports the Mabile Medical
Van for the homeless, and many recipients af that care are�eterans. Loran C.ichty and Anna Mark�e will
present informatian to the Community S�r�ices Committee about the Veterans and Numan Services
Levy an Monday, June 27, at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Conference room. Committee members
expressed an interest in getting additional information so they can adWocate far t�is le�y in the
community. Karen wilf email them when she has the information.
6. Updates:
a) Summer L�anch Program: The partnership between City of Rentort Staff, Rentor� School Distric#, and
ca�nmunity partners is off to a great start this year. Dianne reported that we have 1�sites, which is a
record. Craft �rojec�s wi[I be offer�d this year at Heritage Park on specific dates,
b] Capacity Building: Nathan PhiElips, capacity building consultant, surveyed the agencies to determine
areas of need. We reeeived 18 survey responses. He made a recommenc[afion for training topics based
on the resul�s of the sur�ey. Adria, Linda, and Dianne presented the recommendations ta the
Comrrtittee to gef their input ort the topics. After discussion, the Committee decided on Grantwriting,
The Basics of a �undraising Plan, and Builcfing an Organizational Dashbaard: Using Benchmarks and
Outcomes to Measure Agency Performance. Robin rt�ade a motion ta offer these three trainin�s, and
Adria seconded the motion. Motian carried. Dianne mentianed that a fourth training is an option, and
it was agreed that surveying the agencies after the irtitial trainir�gs wau[d help de�errnine the need for a
fourth.
c) Resource Fair: King County Housing Authority,Seattle Hous[ng Authority, and R�nton Housing
Autharity plan �o do a Resourc� Fair at the Pavilian. They would like the city to be a co-sponsor, 7he

fami[ies become self sufficient. Adria affered to work with the agencies we fund. She will fold the I
propased Resaurce Fair into this farger e�ent, learn from it and use the knawledge far the fair she
wants to do on a more regular basis, Karen will write the proposal for the City to co-sponsor the e�ent.
Adria still wants to hold her Resource Fair in �foverri�er to ensure that famifies get help for the holidays.
7. South E(in� Cauncil of_Human Seruices Annual Luncheon; The SoUth King Counci[ of Human Services
annual luncheon will Eae held on Tuesday,June 28, at Emeralc� Downs. The tap[c af discussion is "5outh
King County-Where Do We Go from Nere?" and will feature keynote speaker Norrnan Rice, Seattl�
Foundation Fresident & C�O.
