CALL TO ORDER
Robert Logue, called the meeting to order at 4:35 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Michael O' Donin made a motian to approve the minutes as written. The motion
was seconded by Marge Richter. Motion carried the March 1999 minutes were
appra�ed.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
The following upcoming events were noted:
• Senior Stage Re�ue-April 29 � 2:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.
• Community Center 1�th Anniversary on April 14�h form 7:00-9:00 p.m.
• RYS� Spring Concert on May 2"d C� Carco Theatre
CONSENT
Laurie Pilon requested ta plant a tree and �laque at Gene Coulon Memorial
Beach Park in memory of Joanne Dijulio. Roman Wal requested ta purchase a
tree and plaque at Gene Coulon Memoria! Beach Park in memory of her
husband. Staff ad�ised th� Board there currently is a waiting list of
approximately 5 people waiting to replace trees a# Coulon Park. They advised
informing the applicants their names could be added to the waiting list far Coulon
Park or our staff would coordinate a location at another park site. Robert Logue
made a motion seconded by Ron Regis to concur with staff recomm�ndation.
Motion carried, requests appraved as r�oted.
P. D. 5trandberg, Boeing Company, requested ta hold their annual Fun Run in
June at the Cedar Ri�er Park complex. They are requesting the Carco Theatre

area for parking, registration and after-run cool-down. They also need use of
res#room facilities and a water spicket for the rur�ners. They ha�e 100 supp�rt
�oiunteers assisting in coordinating this e�ent. The community center has e�en#s
scheduled o� both of the requested June dates and feels a crowd that size, �n
addition, to those already schedu�ed, would have too great of an impact to the
park . Joan Moffaat made a mo#ion seconded by Ron Regis to deny this request.
Motion carried, request denied. Mr. Logue requested staff explain in a letter
why we feft we could not accommodate their request.
The St. Bernard Club of Puget Sound requested #o hold their annual summer
show at Thomas Teasdale Park. This group has used the park for many years
and ha�e always been goo� guests� ensuring the park is clean after their use.
Staff recommends appro�a! of this requeste Ron Regis made a motion secondEd
by Marge Richter to appro�e the request as sta#ed. Motion carried, reques#
approved.
The Renton Sailing Club submitted a letter, after the March Park Board mee#ing
had been held, requesting appro�al of wai�er of launch fees for a regatta to be
hefd on April �Ot" and Qctober 1 fith of 1999. The April 10"' regatta took placE
prior to the April Park Board meeting and the October regatta requested wai�er
of launch fees, Launch fees are r�ot charged after October 1 St, therefore, no
wai�er is needed for the fees in �ctober. How�v�r, Tim Searing, Chair, noted
although standard fees would not be backcharged for the launching in the April
regatta, which hosted approximately 20-25 entries, all future requests of this
nature must be made in a timely manner. No wai�er of fees will be granted in the
f�ture w�thout prior re�iew by the boar�,
OLD BUSINESS
Leslie Betlacfi�, Parks Director, gave an update on th� Cedar Rive� dredging
project.
Jerry Rerecich rem�nded e�eryone about the upcoming hydroplane �aces on
Saturday, April 24'h and Sunday April 25{''.
Jerry also ga�e an update on the meetings with Ms. Barf�eldlLucas on their
planr�ing for their annual family reunion. Their requests had been tabled from
last month's meeting. The staff worked with the group to coordinate their
acti�ities and Iocation. Due to a softball toumament the Sunday gosp�l serrrices
were mutuail� agreed upon to be mo�ed to the community cer�ter. Cynthia Bums
made a motion to appro�e th� requests as discussed with staff and waive the
fees on a one-time-only basis. Afl were in agreement, motion carried.
Jim Shepherd poin#ed out a br�efing of the public hearing regarding the Labrador
pla# had taeen circulated for the board's re�iew. This was informational or�ly and
did not req�ire any action.

Tim Searing, Chair, informed everyone that the River Day's Committee had
decided not to hold a concert in conjunction with River Days this year.

OTHER
AUDIENCE COMMENT
Gary Bagnell, Renton Sailing Club, was present to give t�e Board an overview of
the Club. He pro�ided handouts out�ining the Club's history and their acti�ifies
from when they started in 19�4. Their mission is to pro�ide education in the
handling of small boats and provide classes for the public. Mr. Bagnell
mentioned possibl� expanded use of our facilities firom the current Wednesday
and Fridays to inclu�e Tuesday and Thursdays to conduct classes for Renton
Technicai College. He will bring tF�is up at another meeting for discussions. He
thanked the board.
Robert Logue i�quired about the dock and maintenance prob�ems and w�ose
responsibility it is to keep it maintained. Sy�via Allen, Recreation Director,
commented she was discussing ti�is fact and the renewal of the sailing club's
contract with the city attorney. Jerry Rerecich said he would meet wi�h Human
Resources also to discuss issues of responsibility.

Robert Logue made a motion seconded by Marge R�chter to adjourn the me�#ing.
