Ron Regis, Chair, called the December 1999 meeting to order at 4:30 �.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Joan Moffatt made a motion seconde� by Robert Logue to appro�e t�e
No�ember minutes. Motion carried, minutes appro�ed as written.

CONSENT
Leslie Betlach reviewed a letter by Susan MacWt�irter �vercash requesting to
�urchase a bench at Gene Coufon Memorial Beach Park in �onor of her parents.
After�isiting the sit� Susan amended her written request and �nstead wished to

refurbish an existing b�nch at another location in the park. Staff recommended
approval of this request and will work with Susan to caordina�e the purchases for
materials and labor. Joan Moffatt made a motion seconded by Marge Richter to
appro�e the rec�uest as amended. Motion carried,
Emma Faunce requested to purchase a tree and plaque for Ges�e Caulon
Memorial BEach Park along the north-walking path in honor of James Faunce.
Her tree preference is a whi#e dogwood. There currer�#ly is a waiting list,
however, no dogwood trees are currently at Coulon Parlc and another species
would have to substituted. Staff recommends approval to put this request on #he
waiting list for Gene Coulon Park but another tree species would ha�e #o be
used. Staff will also offer Ms. Faunce the option o# another lacation where a
dogwood could be planted. M�chael O'Donin made a motion seconded by Marge
Richter to appro�e the request as recommended by staff. All were in favor,
motion carried.
Shawr� Daly, Senior Servxces Coordinator, and Pa# Baylora Nutrition Manager,
were present #o request waiver of fees for the senior center on Sa#urday, January
29, 2000. They are planning o� holding a spaghetti dinner as a fundraiser. Any
profits would be used to replace equipment and s�pplies as needed. Robert
Logue made a motion to appro�e the waiver of fe�s for t�e use of the senior
center. Cynthia Bums seconded the mation, motion carried.
Mr. Higbee, Washington ABA, reques#ed permission to use Gene Coulon
Memorial Beach Park as the tournament headquarters for a series of five fishing
events scheduled in fhe year 200�. The only accommodations for the group
would be to open the boat launci� early in April. Ti�e group will obtain required
insurance and pay all fees including parking, launching and moorage. Staff
recommends approval of these requests and believes the impact to the park will
be minimal. Joan Moffatt made a motion seconded by Cyn#hia Bums to approve
the request as written. Motion carried, request approved.
QLD BUSINESS
Glenn Kast, CIP Proj�ct Manager re�iewed several projects and their current
status. He reported the Piazza was 60°Io done and completion date was
expected to be February is'. The Highlands Neighbofiood gymnasium is 40%
done and has a May 1 completion date anticipated. �'he Cedar Ri�Er Trail
relocation is 95% compfete and the seeding will be done in sp�ing.
(Approximately 1,DOD feet of the trail was mo�ed back 85 feet due to erosion and
the need for slope stabilization.) Glenn also discussed new projects including the
skatebaard paric and demolition of Liberty Park pool and the Piazza project.

OTHER
Cynthia Burns inc{uired about the status of the trail and i#s an#icipated opening.
Marge Richter cammented on the Mayor's holiday card she recei�ed and how
beautiful t�e picture of Clam Lig�ts was. LesEie Betlach, Parks Director,
commended Marge Richter and her involvem�nt and hard work on the tree
ligh#ing ceremony for downtown R�nton.
Joan Moffatt announced she would be out of town ar�d unable to attend meetings
January, February and March.

second�d the mation. Afl were in favor, meeting adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
