CALL TO ORDER
Marge Richter, Ct�air, called the December 2000 meeting to arder at 4:31 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Cynthia Bums made a motian seconded by Ron Regis to approve the No�ember
minu#es as written. AI� were in fa�or, minutes approved.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bonnie Rerecich intraduced the new Recreation Coordinator, Andrew O'Brien to
the Board.
Mr. Shepherd re�iewed tne holiday closures at the community center, the holiday
luncheon at the Senior Activity Center, upcoming performances at Carco Theatre
and distributed the copies of winter/spring brochure.
CORRESPONDENCE
Jim reviewed a letter from George Vanni, Athletic Director at Liberty High Sc�ooE
thanking us for allowing their group us� of Maplewood Golf Course. They
appreciated the extra time and efforts our s#aff provided to accommodate their
program.
CONSENT
CT Engineering, Seattle, requested to park approxima#eiy 30 cars at Liberty Park
for 8-10 hours on a Friday, May 2, 2001. A chartered bus wi[I pic�C them up at
that �ocation. Staff recommends appraval but stipulates all �ehicles must park on
the east side of the park (Bronson Way}. Cynthia Burns made a mo#ion
seconded by Michael O'Donin to approve the request. All present were in favor,
motion carried.
OTHER
There was discussion regarding Clam Lights and the trEe lighting at#he Piazza.
E�eryone was in agreement that both wen# well and gets better�ach year.
Leslie Betlach reported on �he floodwall project at the Maplewood Galf Caurse.
Sf�ort-term actions include purchase and installation of a temporary bladder#o
decrease the possibility of floodwater fram #lowing across the course and into the
Maplewood neighborhood� The City will conduct a public meeting for
ne�ghboring residents to answer quest�ons and provide infarmation on the
purchase of flood insurance�
Long-term actions include plans and cost estimates �or construction of sethack
Fe�ee or concrete floodwall to pre�ent floodwater from overtopping the bank anti
construction of a setback le�ee pri:ar#0 200� flood season is possible.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was mad� and seconded to adjoum the December meeting. Motian
carried, meeting adjoumed at 5:Q1 p.m.
