CALL TO ORDER
The January meeting was called to order by Chair, Marge Richter at 4:30 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Troy Wigestrand made a motion s�conded by Michael O'Donin #o appro�e the
Decemb�r minutes as written. Motion carried, minutes appro�ed.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
CORRESPONDENCE
A letter from Gene Sens, Piazza Committee was re�iewed. It was noted a $100
donation was made by J. Wimpress to be used by parks toward maintenance of
Gene Coujon Memorial Beach Park.
CONSENT
Nancy Hoben, Arts Chairman, Renton Centennial Committee, was present to
review two proposed sites for the Centennial sculpture. She s�ggest�d for
consideration the 1) traffic circle in front of Carco Theatre ar 2) the grassy area,
to the Ieft of tF�e theatre, centered be#ween the trees and the curb. The
committee would like a �ocation where #he sculpture will get the greatest
exposure. MichaeI O'Donin made a motion to appro�e the location to the left of
tF�e theatre, centered between the trees and the curb. Troy Wigestrand
seconded the motion. AIE were in favor, motion carried. Nancy, the artist and
staff wi11 meet at the site to coordinate placement and the board will review the
final sizing and placement.

Sonja Me�la�nder, Community Relations Specia�ist, submitted a letter requesting
us� of Libery Park on September 5, 6 and 7t'' for Rentor�'s 200� Centennial
Ce�ebration. Liberty Park will be the site of the "Big Birthday 6ash". Michael
O'Donin made a motion to concur with staff recommendation and appro�e this
request. Tf�e motion was seconded by Troy Wigestrand. AI� were in favor,
motion carried.
PRZ Consu�ting requested �se of one of our saccer fields during their annual
Ma�ntenance Field Conference. They also requested transportatior� for 30
people from the Holiday inn to one of our fields, a staff person and a front-end
ioader for the first moming to assist the contractor. In exchange $5-8,000 of
work would be done on one of our fields for free and 2 seminar scholarship ($650
value) would be awarded to two of our employees. Tim Searing made a motion
seconded by Michael �'Donin to approve this request. Mation carried.
NEW BUSINESS
Syl��a Allen explained the process taking place to get the recreation d�partment
nationally accredited. An update on th� skateboard park was gi�en and the
Carco Theatre remodel.
ADJOURNMENT
A mot+on was made and seconded to adjoum the meeting. All were 'sn favor,
meeting adjoumed at 5:05 p.m.
