CALL TO ORDER
The February meeting was called to order by Chair, Marge Richter at 4:30 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Michael O'Donnell made a mation seconded by Tim Searing to appro�e the January minutes as read.
Motion carried, minutes approved.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Jim S�epherd announced the re-opening of Carco Theatre and t�e �p-coming Reno night at the Senior
Ac#ivity Cent�r.
C�RRESPONDENCE
Jim re�iewed a letter of resignation from park board member, Joan Moffatt and a letter to Jim
Medze�gan, Piazza Renton, denying request for construction of a centennial countdown sign.
C�NSENT
a) Diane Burgess, Arrangements Committee CROPWALK, requested use of the shelters and
waiver of fees at Cedar Ri�er Park and Riverrriew Park. These shelters will be used as
checkpoints for their annual walk on Sunday, May fith to benefit the hungry. Staff
recommends approvaf of this request pending receipt of certificate of insurance and
coordination with parks main#enance on signage. Cynthia Bums made a motion seconded by
Michael O'Donin to approve this request contingent on compliance with staff guidefines. All
present were in fa�or, motion carried.
b} Diane Rose requested ta plant a tree and plaque in memory of her brother, Bruce Wagner,
lang time resident of Renton at Gen� CouIon Park. 5taff recommends approval of th�s

memarial, how��er, t�ere currently is a waiting list of four. Tim Searing made a mation
seconded by Cynthia Bums to appro�e this request. Motion carried, request approved. Staff
will natify Ms. Rose when a spot becomes a�ailable,.
c) Suzanne Christensen requested to hald her wedding ceremony at the Senior Activity Center
on Saturday, August 1�, 2001. Her reception is at the senior center also. Staff r�commended
appro�ai of this request contingen# on coordination with Shawn Daly, Seniar Center
Coordina#or and compliance with park ru�es and regulations. Tim Searing made a motion
seconded by Cynthia Burns to appro�e this rEquest. All were in favor, motion carried.
d) Yvonne Westover, Community Health Center, requested a price break on the shelter fee and
ball field rental for Teasdale Park for a staff picnic on September 15, 2001 . T�ey may rent
infla#ables/game equipment. Staff does not recommend wai�er ar reduction of fees for the
shel#er. `�he fields are in use that weekend for soccer so are not available a�d the playground
is open to the public and cannot be reserved exclusi�ely for their group. The shelter will be
he�d until February 27th for their use but tY�ey must come to the community center and
complete #he paperwork and pay the appropriate fee. FaiEure to do so will result in
cancellation of their reservation. Cynthia Bums made a motion to deny the fee wai�er as
requested. M€c�ael O'Donin seconded by motion. AI! were in favor, motion carried.
e} Roger Newton, Classic Thunder, requested to hold radio-con#rolled model races in front of
Ivar's at Coulon Park on April 8, July 12, July 22, August �2 and September 9th. Staff
recommends appro�al of this request. This group has held these races at this site for 5 years
and always complied with park rules and regulations. Michael O'Donin made a motion #o
concur with staff recommendations and appro�e tF�e request. Ron Regis seconded by motion,
motion carried, request appro�ed.
f) Lois Rogers, Westem Bank, requested to use the community center parlcing lot on
Wednesday, March 7, 2001 far approximately 35-40 cars. A bus will be picking them up for a
day of skiing at Crystal Mountain. They will be arriving between 6:3�-7:QQ a.m, and returning
approximately 6:30-7;00 p.m. Staff recommends approval of this reques# but the group must
park ir� the east parking lot. Cynthia Burns made a motian seconded by Michael 0'Donin to
approve this requ�s#. All were in fa�or, motion carried.
g) Liberty Park High 5chool requested use of the Maplewood Golf Course for the 200� girl's golf
season. Staff recommends approval of#h�s request.
h) Sunse# Preschool is hoiding its' first annual f�ndraiser dinner/auction on Saturday, March 3, at
the Highland's Neighborhood Center. They are requestir�g a waierer or reduction of the rental
fee. Staff does not recommend a reduction �n fees. They ha�e requested exclusive use af
areas of the #acility, tabies and chairs after normal operating hours requiring additional staff.
Additionally, afl money raised will be for the use of th� pre-school, wh�ch also charges a fee to
students.

with staff recomme�datian. Motion carried.
OLD BUSlNESS
Jerry Rerecicn, Recreation Manager, presentEd the renewal for the Liberty Park concession contract by
Esther Holt. Ron Regis made a motion s�conded by Cynthia Bums to appro�e the contract with no
changes from las# year. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS
Glenn Kost, CIP Mana�er, discussed the new water line construction in Liberty Park and tne
r�construction of t�e eastemmost parking lot and relocation of the basketball court and related
walkways. Construction is planned for 2002 with a tf�ree to faur month construction window. Glenn felt
the benefits obtained wauld outweigh the short-term negatives. W� will also request in next year's
budget proposal sufficient funding to mo�e the playground �quipment.
ADJQURNMENT
Cynt�ia Bums made a motion seconded by Michael O'Donin to adjourn #he meeting. All were in favor,
the Febr�aary 2001 meeting was adjourned at 5:25 p.m.
