CALL TO ORDER
The May meeting was called to order a# 4:30 p.m. by Chair, Marge RicY�ter.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Michael O'Donin made a motion seconded by Ron Regis to approve the April minutes
as written. All present were in favor, motion carried, minutes approved.

CONSENT
Mr. Shepherd reviewed letters from Ren#on Christian Schools; King Cou�ty Department
of Adult Detentian Employee's Association; John Keyes; Deborah Spangle-York of
Puget Sound Educational Service District; Valiey Medical Center; North Korean School
Association; Arch Wireless; PACCAR; St. Anthony Parish; #he German Shepherd Dog
Club of Washington; and Sonja Mejlaender, River Days. Prior to the meeting the staff
had reviewed these letters, confirmed availability of requested space, reviewed activities
to ensure comAl�ance with park rules and regulations and made individual
recommendations. Ron Regis made a motion seconded by Ralph Evans to appro�e
these requests wi#h noted continge�cies. All were in favor, motion carried. Consent
agenda appro�ed.
OLD BUS[NESS
M�chael O'Hallaran, Municipal Arts Commission, was present to discuss reloca#ion of
the donkey at Tonkin Park. He stated the Arts Commission is willing to contribute up to
$fi00 to pay the artist to oversee the ma�e. Our parks staff will repour a pad to
accommodate the scu�pture in its new locat�on. L�slie Betlach, Parks Director, indicated
s�e had concerns regarding #he location of ti�e utilities. Discussior� was tabled until the

next meeting. Memb�rs will visit the park prior to the next meeting and review the
suggested location,
A lis# of potential sites to hold future meetings for the remainder of 20t�1 was presented
�or review. Troy Wigestrand made a mo#ion to approve t�e list as presented, Michael
O'Donin seconded the motion. AI! were in favor, motion carried. Michael requested a
rem+nder each month be sent out.
�im reviewed that the contract between the City and I�ar's stipulates tha# $20,000 yearl�
is donated by Ivar's for community events and acti�ities. The Board is supposed t�
review and approve the disbursement of #hese funds. We ha�� not been doing that ir�
the pas# but effecti�e nex# year we will brir�g this before the Board for evaluation.
OTHER
Discussion followed regarding the new Skate Park and potential problems, including the
need for additional staffing and supenrision. ,lim Shepherd explained we are a victim of
our own success. We will monito�the park as much as possible and are ha�ing signage
put xn place such as 'dismount' zone to discourage slcateboarding in other areas of the
park.
Mr. Evans noted the need for complete dacumentation as backup to tF�e agenda#o allow
for thorough review of all submitted requests.
Marge Richter noted how she enjoyed the Renton Youth Sympnony performance and
the Senior Re�iew was also very nice. She reminded e�eryone about the
Armed Forces Day at the Veterans Memoriai Park on May 19'h and the �ctivities
planned.
