CONSENT
Jim reiewed two consent letters. The first from Mike Sandahl, Renton Reay for Life
Chairman, reques#ing use of Liberty Park and Giannini Stadium for their annual relay for
fiife eent. The second, a request from Adrienne Carter and Tony Jorgensen requesting
to have #heir wedding at the Coulon Park on ctober 19#". They woufd like to use a tent
n case of rain.
Board members discussed the request #or a wedding at Coulon and the need for the
couple to realize the park is still open to the public and the possibili#y of distractions.
Ron Regis made a motion to approe the request contingent on payment of fees,
agreement to follow park rules and regulations and coordination with staff or location of
the #nt. Cynthia Burns seconded the motion, a11 were En favor, motion carried.
The staff and the Board discussed the Relay for Life request in length. Staff expressed
concems #hat Liberty Park was not a good vene for this event. Without a track for
walkers, it was felt walking the outer portion of tie field will negatively affect #he grass,
and most importan# if it was rainy, the participants would be wa[king in mud. This also
could potentially be a safety issue. The request for cortinuous ampsfied music was
arso a concem due to the proximity of homes in the area. Recognizing this worthwhile
fundraiser and the volunteer's and participant's efforts staff is willing to work with group
on a more suitable lacation, such as Ron Regis Park. Ron Regis made a motion to
concur with saff recommendation and deny the request for use of Libery Park, the
motion was seconded by Michael O'Donin. Motion carried, request denied for Liberty
Park bu# approved at a mutually acceptable location to staff an participants.
