CALL TO ORDER
The City of Renton Park Board meeting was called to order by Chair Cynthia Burns at 4:35
p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Michae� O'Donin made a motion seconded by Marge Richter to approve the September
minutes as written. All were in favor, minutes approved.
AUDIENCE COMMENT
Syl�ia Allen, Recreation Director, introduced the new Youth Council representati�e, Elizabeth
Obermiller.
CORRESPONDENCE
Mr. Culp reviewed a letter from Dennis Bowe, Western Washington Millwrights Local 204,
complimenting one of our parks employees, Patti Hunter, and our facility {Gene Coulon
Memorial Beach Park).
CONSENT
A request to have a wedding ceremony at the Renton Cedar River Park by the river with the
wedding reception immediately following at the Community Center was reviewed. Ralph
E�ans made a motion seconded by Marge Richter to approve the request contingent on the
couple coordina#ing their event with staff. Motion carried, request approved.

OLD BUSINESS
The Skatepark competition appro�ed at th� September park board meeting was cance�ed.
The group did not want ta hold the event ��f they could not use ampfified de�ices.
NEW BUSINESS
Four members of the Northwes# Skyraiders Model airplane group were present to discuss the
possibility of lacating a permanent place to prac#ice and fly their model airplanes. They
explained they have a 2.5 million dollar insurance policy (but ha�e ne�er had one accident.)
They would like to practice every aftemoon and e�ery wEekend. They would do t�eir own
striping and maintenar�ce. They suggested AMA might contribute some funding to assist in
defraying any start-up costs.
If we did not ha�e a suitable area in mind they asked if we might consider a cooperative effort
with the Ci#ies of A�burn and Kent, as w� did with the dog park. Staff explained our current
parks and fields are booked with athletics and the best wE could do is offer a space available
basis at select locations.
Dennis Cutp thanked the group for their presentation and felt they had started tY�e process by
bringing this informatian forward. The group indicated they wou�d be in contact with Kent and
Aubum and return with a proposal at a lat�r date.
OTHER
Jerry Rerecich announced that �vars would be closed October 27t'' and 28'h to paint the floors,
T�m Searing inquired about the I-40� widening project and how it would affect Cedar River
Park and Liberty Park. Lesiie Betlach said ther� woufd be se�eral impacts affecting us
ad�ersely, She will report back to the Board with de�elopments as they occur.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made and seconded by Tim Searing to adjoum the meeting. All were in #a�or,
the meeting was adjourned at 5:5Q p.m.
