CALL TO ORDER
Ralph E�ans, Chair Pro Tem, called the May 1�, 2004, meeting to order at 4:32
p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Ron Regis made a motion seconded by Marge Richter to adopt the minutes as
written. All were in favor, motion carried, minutes approved.
AUDIENCE COMMENT
Guests, including Pete Mass, Non-motorized Transportation Committ�e; Jim
Zmmerman; and Justin Wifcox, Youth Council; were introduced to the Board.
ANNQUNCEMENTS
Sylvia Allen, Recreation Director, announced the Recreation Department
received an Award of Merit from the WRPA for its Winter/Spring recreation
brochure.
C�RRESPONDENCE
A letter from Charlotte, Cedar River Hatchery, was re�iewed thanking John
Slaney for his cooperation in releasing 7 millian fry at the mou#F� of tF�e Cedar
Ri�er.
CQNSENT
Dennis Culp revi�wed Consent it�ms A thru K. Michael O'Donin made a motion
seconded by Ron Regis to a�prove the consent agenda as presented with staff
recommendations. Alf present were in favor, motion carried, consent agenda
appra�ed.
NEW BUSlNESS
Ke11y Beymer, Golf Course Manager, discussed Maplewood's involvement with
the "Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program." This program will expand upan
our current efforts to conduc# proacti�e environmental proj�cts.
OTHER
There was discussion regarding waiver of fees and future efforts to defir�e a
poficy outlir�ing w�at criteria to use #o appro�e r�duced tees or waiver of tees.
AUDIENCE COMMENT
June 15t will be the pre-opening of the pool and a practice for the staff (Employee
Nigh�. June 5�'' wil� b� the official opening ta the public. Othet discussion
included the #rai! connection and the Maple Valley Highway project. Leslie
Betlach, Parks Director, recommended the Board members visit Kiwanis Park to
see the improvements including the new landscaping.
ADJ�URNMENT
Troy Wigestrand made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Ron Regis seconded
the motion, all were in favor, motion carried, the May meeting was adjoumed at
5:15 p.m.
