THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE REASONABLE PRECAUTIONS AND EXERCISE SOUND ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION PRACTICES IN CONDUCTING THE WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT EXISTING PUBLIC AND PRIVATE UTILITIES FROM DAMAGE DURING CONSTRUCTION. IF EXISTING UTILITIES ARE DAMAGED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE OWNER AND THE ENGINEER. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RESTORE THE UTILITY TO ITS EXISTING CONDITION.
