SUBJECT: Height Requirements for Utility Poles
BACKGROUND: The height of high voltage utility poles may exceed the maximum height
requirements of the underlying zoning designation. There are provisions
in the development standards to allow Wireless Communication Facilities
to exceed the maximum height limits of the underlying zoning
designation and for larger structures the height is determined through
the Conditional Use Permit process.
DECISION: The height of utility poles shall be determined through the Conditional
Use Permit process.
JUSTIFICATION: Utility poles are similar in appearance and function to Wireless
Communication Facilities, therefore the height requirements established
in the development standards for Wireless Communication Facilities
should also apply to utility poles.
