HomeMy WebLinkAboutAERIAL VARIENCE_N.351569City of Renton Dept. of Community & Economic Development Phone: 425-430-7266 / franchise@rentonwa.gov This letter is in response to an Aerial Variance request for explanation regarding CenturyLink permit request to place fiber on job N.351569 to provide fiber to CenturyLink customer order. This customer is currently being fed by an existing underground copper feed from the east side of Kirkland Ave NE and their conduit stops 65ft out of the MPOP. The most efficient and cost-effective way to upgrade the customer to fiber is to bore across Kirkland Ave NE and replace the Ped with a new HH. From there we can trench in the grass and place a riser to pole A0505526. Then we can place aerial to pole A0505527 and proceed as originally requested. This costs us approximately, $18,000. If we were to replace this with an underground, this would cost us nearly double at $30,000. The aerial path allows for less ground disturbance, concrete disturbance, restoration, and traffic impact. If this is acceptable to the City of Renton we will proceed as planned, otherwise we will not be able to provide this service to the customer as requested.
