This letter is regarding the Special Administrative Fence Permit (LUA06-116) that was issued for
the fence located at 809 Monroe Avenue, NE, on October 25, 2006. The appeal period for the
permit ended on November 8, 2006, and no appeal was filed regarding this fence.
As described in. the permit conditions, you are required, to permanently landscape the area along
the fence facing the street front. In order to meet this condition, please submit a detailed
landscape plan indicating the use of appropriate landscaping materials such as bark, flowers,
shrubs, trees, grass, etc. Trees should be a minimum 1"-2" caliper if deciduous, or minimum 6"=
8" height for coniferous` trees.
The required planting/landscaping plan, including species to be used, must be submitted for
review no later .than December 28, 2006. Upon approval of your landscaping plan, all
landscaping must be completed within 180 days.

Conditions of Approval:
1) No portion of the fence including the brick pillars shall exceed 72"(six feet) in the front and side
yards.
2) The area in front of the fence shall be permanently landscaped and maintained with a variety of
appropriate landscaping material such as trees, shrubs, groundcover, flowers, landscape bark, etc.
A planting plan shall be submitted for review and approval by the Development Services Division
Project Manager within 45 days of receiving this permit.
3) Once the landscape plan is approved all plants shall be installed within 180 days.

My name is Karla C. Sorto and Eu1et11k1 Sorto-Fuentes is my mother. She is the legal
owner of the house located at 809 Tvloiiroc _\N enue NE Renton, WA 98056, however me
and my husband (to be) five there w i th our l ear old son. We are responsible to pay for
all the payments of the house.
The reason we are building the fence is mostly for safety and security purposes. As I
mention we have a 1 year old baby and pretty soon he is going to be running all over the
place and we want to prevent him from running down the street and getting hurt, I mean
(Monroe Ave NE is just outside our home).
Also because in the past we have gotten our car stereo stolen, and our car lights stolen as
well (twice) some tools and our car window broken (the car has an alarm). We want to
have some peace of mind and believe that the fence will help with that somehow.
Moreover we want to enhance our house and make it look beautiful and by that it also
enhances the city as well.
I want you to know that before we started building the fence (even before buying the
material) I called the phone number provided for the building permit to find out
information. The lady who assisted me told me that as long as the fence was less than 6'
Ft of height then, we would not need a building permit. I did let her know that it was a
fence for our front yard, at no point she told me that the city height limit for building a
fence in the front was 4' ft height. We needed a fence and it just happened to be higher
that 4 ft. we did not plan a 6 ft height fence but the wrought iron was just that height so
we just left it the way it was, if we have known we would have done things different. We
care to do things the right way. I hope we can resolve this matter.
