• The Public Works Maintenance Division has been busy during February's snow and
inclement weather events. Between onset of the snow on Sunday, February 3 and
the conclusion of the team's response to the weather events on Thursday, February
14, the Maintenance Division plowed 15,181 miles, used 650 tons of sand, 400 tons
of salt, and 10,000 gallons of de-icer. Crews worked 12-hour shifts around the clock
for 12 straight days. A big thank you to them for keeping Renton's residents safe and
our streets in drivable condition.
• The Draft 2019 Stormwater Management Program Plan is available for review and
comments through March 4. The Plan describes the city's planned actions and
activities for the year to meet the requirements of the Western Washington Phase II
Municipal Stormwater Permit issued by the Washington State Department of
Ecology. The Plan and contact information are posted on the city's website.
Comments may be submitted to Surface Water Utility Engineer Kristina Lowthian at

• Swap plants and seeds and learn about gardening, beekeeping, backyard chickens,
and more at the SubUrban Farm and Garden Expo on Saturday, March 9 from 10:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the North Highlands Neighborhood Center, 3000 NE 16th Street.
Road conditions, especially during the winter months, may impact recycling,
organics, and garbage collection routes in Renton. Hauler trucks are heavy and the
city and Republic Services are concerned with public safety. If weather conditions
prevent collection of recycling, organics, or garbage carts, remove the carts from the
curb at the end of the day and follow the guidelines below. Please follow container
weight limits.
• Recycling and garbage carts will be collected on the Saturday immediately
following the missed collection.
• Organics cart will be collected on the next regularly scheduled collection day, the
following week.

• Information about preventative street maintenance, traffic impact projects, and
road closures happening this week can be found at http://rentonwa.gov/traffic.
Preventative street maintenance, traffic impact projects, and road closures will be at
the following locations:
✓ Monday, February 25 through Friday, March 1, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Intermittent lane closures at South 132nd Street for storm water utility work.

✓ Monday, February 25 through Friday, March 1, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Intermittent lane closures on Lake Washington Blvd between North 39th Street
and North 40th Street due to roadway construction. Questions may be directed

✓ Monday, February 25 through Friday, March 1, 4:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Single
lane closure along southbound Talbot Road South between the northbound I-
405 on -ramp and the southbound 1-405 off -ramp for the 1-405 Direct Connector

✓ Monday, February 25 through October 2019. The Renton Hill Utility
Replacement Project is underway with anticipated completion in May 2019.
Following completion of the utility project, an overlay of the affected surface
streets will be conducted as part of the 2019 overlay project. The overlay is
scheduled to be completed prior to October 31, 2019.
✓ Monday, February 25 through Friday, March 1. Road closure on South 14th
Street between Smithers Avenue South and Davis Avenue South for utility
