Proclamation
Whereas, experience has shown that government by itself cannot solve all our nation's social
problems; and
Whereas, volunteers help drive our country's progress, and day in and day out, they make
extraordinary sacrifices to expand promise and possibility; and
Whereas, volunteers, driven by the conviction that we all have a stake in each other, lift up those
they know and those they do not, making our communities better; and
Whereas, in city parks and public schools, food pantries and the Farmers Market, during crisis and
disasters, volunteers help cultivate hope and inspiration from each and every act of service; and
Whereas, volunteers working in our community give their time and talent daily to make a real
difference in the lives of our children, adults, the elderly, and the frail; and
Whereas, volunteers can connect with local community service opportunities through the City of
Renton's Volunteer Program and hundreds of community service organizations; and
Whereas, we celebrate the selfless individuals who channel their civic virtues through
volunteerism to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Renton;
Now, therefore, I, Denis Law, Mayor of the City of Renton, do hereby proclaim the month of April
2018 to be
Volunteer Month
in the City of Renton. I encourage all members of the community to observe this month by
volunteering in service projects across the city and pledging to make service a part of their daily
lives. By volunteering and by recognizing those who serve, we can perpetuate the stewardship
and vitality of this great city.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Renton to be
affixed is 9th day of April, 2018.
