City Transfer crew continued to use the conveyor belt to move native soils from the
Rolling Hills excavation. Material was placed by a track hoe to the area above the
conveyor belt and a dozer spread soil along this bench. A roller compacted the material.
Because of heavy rain over the week-end, no layers were placed on the soil reinforced
slope this morning. Some discussion occurred among City transfer and Merlino crew
about whether to proceed with today’s embankment work or come back tomorrow when
the grade is drier. They decided continue work and scrape ponded water from the surface
grade at Elev 183 between Sta. 11+75 to 13+00.
Some erosion on the side slopes was observed. Silt in the drainage ditch and and rock
lined ditch to the I- 405 shoulder below.
