To: City of Renton Permitting From: Thomas McDaniel Date: 5/10/19 Subject: Special Fence Permit Request - 1932 SE 18th Ct Renton, WA 98055 To whom it may concern, My name is Thomas McDaniel and I would like to apply for a special fence permit at my residence at 1932 SE 18th Ct. This fence is to replace an old, dilapidated fence that was present at the house at the time of purchase, which has since been blown over by the wind. I would like to construct a fence that is 72” to provide extra privacy for my family in a location that will not limit our usable back yard space. The following measures will be taken to help maintain the neighborhood aesthetic and not create vast blank spaces along public roads: 1. The fence will be constructed of high-quality cedar wood with a natural stain color to match numerous other fences in the neighborhood. 2. The fence will be oriented towards the view of the public 3. The fence will be built such that the top of every other fence board will be cut to allowing a 6” x 1’ “window” to avoid a solid wall look and promote a sense of openness. 4. The fence will be offset from the sidewalk 3’. In this space, 18” box wood shrubs will be planted on 4’ centers to provide additional aesthetic detail. The ground between the sidewalk and fence will be bark nuggets. 5. The fence will be constructed outside of the clear vision area so it will not be a safety hazard.
