Revised JARPA Map.pdf; 2. May Creek Concept.pdf Re: I-405, Renton to Bellevue, Stage 1, Updates to Stream Typing REF: City of Renton permit#: LUA17- 000808 Good Morning Clark, I am writing to share some design refinements that have been made since issuance of the shoreline and critical areas permits for the Renton to Bellevue, Stage 1 Project. These changes do not involve use or access to shoreline zones. These changes are the result of comments received from citizens, tribes and regulators during the public notice process. WSDOT carefully evaluated public, tribal, and regulatory comments, considered new stream data and incorporated the comments and new stream data into design changes. Within the City of Renton, Stream 4.61 changed from potentially non-fish bearing to potentially fish bearing although there is no project work planned within Stream 4.61. In addition, the stormwater outfall at Johns Creek has been modified slightly to reduce velocity and potential harm to fish. The impact areas at the outfall have been adjusted to reflect this design change (please see attached JARPA sheet 8). WSDOT has updated the outfall to a stilling well (a bubble up structure) outlet, widened the channel to create a backwater area, and integrated large woody material (LWM). These changes are based on feedback from WDFW and the MITFD. This revised outfall configuration also increases existing habitat and off-channel refuge for fish. WSDOT also made design modifications that resulted in slight increases to permanent and temporary stream buffer impacts at May Creek (please see attached sheets – May Creek Concept Plans.) Changes resulted in additional temporary stream buffer impacts to the east side of I-405 on both sides of May Creek. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns.
