AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO AGREEMENT FOR TRAINING SERVICES
THIS AMENDMENT, dated July 13, 2019 is by and between the City of Renton (the "City"), a
Washington municipal corporation, and Eric Stewart ("Consultant"), a sole proprietor. The City
and the Consultant are referred to collectively in this Amendment as the "Parties." Once fully
executed by the Parties, this Amendment is effective as of the last date signed by both parties.
Whereas, the City engaged the services of the Consultant under Agreement CAG-19-033, dated
February 1, 2019,to provide necessary services for the Training Services Agreement (referred to
herein as the "Agreement");
Whereas, the Parties wish to amend the Agreement to change the compensation in order to
provide a second three-day workshop for staff.
NOW THEREFORE, It is mutually agreed upon that CAG-19-067 is amended as follows:
1. Scope of Work: Section 1, Scope of Work, is amended to add additional training services
for a variety of courses to be delivered to city staff as specified in Exhibit B.
2. Time of Performance: Section 3, Time of Performance, is amended pursuant to the
schedule(s) set forth in Exhibit B.All Work shall be performed by no later than December
31, 2020.
3. Compensation: Section 4, Compensation, is amended so that the maximum amount of
compensation payable to Consultant is increased by $10,000 from $12,000 to $22,000
plus any applicable state and local sales taxes.The additional compensation shall be paid
based upon Work actually performed according to the rate(s) or amounts specified in
Exhibit B of the Agreement, which is attached and incorporated herein.
4. All terms of the Agreement not explicitly modified herein shall remain in full force and
effect and such terms shall apply to Work performed according to this Amendment as if
fully set forth herein.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the Parties have voluntarily entered into this Agreement as of the date
last signed by the Parties below.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING SERVICES PROPOSAL FOR THE CITY OF RENTON
Title:Value Stream Mapping
Number of course hours:4 hour(1 session)
Minimum 4 Maximum 18
Methods: Lecture,discussion,exercises,role play/simulation
Purpose: Student will understand how to use process mapping to create visual diagrams of operational
process flows.Student will be able to plan process mapping session,facilitate the event and implement
the action plans that are produced.
Description: One of the best tools to understand process problems,such as waste or bottlenecks, is to
visually map the process.This course describes different approaches to process mapping,the planning
needed prior a mapping session and the ways the solutions can be implemented after the event.

• The goals of process mapping
• The types of process maps
• Preparation for a process mapping session
• Implementing improvements or solutions
Learning Outcomes: After completion of this course,students shall be able to:
• Describe the types of process mapping and apply to different operation scenarios
• Plan and organize process mapping events

Title:Facilitation Skills

Purpose: This course focuses on the tools and processes needed to facilitate meeting to produce
anticipated goals and outcomes.The class will examine the concepts of group dynamics and individual
learning style s,which is key to engaging group members.The steps to plan and manage a productive
meeting and the types of facilitation will be presented.The final section reviews the challenges of
facilitation and offers strategies to overcome the pitfalls.
Description: Facilitation is considered a "nuanced skill"which means there is no one way of facilitating
a group of people. Facilitation is the set of skills to keep a meeting or discussion organized and working
toward a specific goal.This class focuses on the tools to keep meetings on track, how to manage
productive discussion, how to promote involvement and get things done.

Title:White Belt Lean Training Program
Number of course hours:2 hours

Methods: Lecture,discussion,exercises,role play/simulation
Purpose: This course focuses on the leadership role in process improvement.This course is a summary
of the tools and processes needed for lean practitioners and managers of process improvement
programs to create standardized approaches to report progress and results. It will allow leaders and
sponsors to understand the importance of engagement and reinforcement and identify ways to
promote excellence in the organization.
Description: Not all process improvement follows traditional project management methodology leaving
some organization to just"wing it"with their process improvement efforts.This creates struggles in
process improvement to produce accurate timelines and or give clear updates on status.Some leaders
get frustrated with the seemingly lack of results and insist on shorter timeframes and "just do it"
projects for quick fixes and then are upset when the problems return.Some challenges include:
• Process Improvement is not recognized, not part of culture
• Process Improvement does it differently every time
• Process Improvement takes way too long
• Belts are given projects that are vague and no metrics
• Belts are seen as consultants
• The Belt gets to "own the process"
This belting program is for sponsors and leaders who need to understand and support Green Belts and
Yellow Belts in their process improvement roles

access waste,to diagnose root causes and facilitate and implement process improvements.Students will
understand the different approaches and outcomes employed by process improvement and change
management.
Description: Participants in the Yellow Belt program will understand basic change management and the
concepts and approaches to support lean process improvement.
Outline:
Week 1:Change management and leveraging sponsor engagement to implement change
Week 2: Lean Focus: Lean basics,definitions, metrics,scope
Week 3: Lean Focus:Current State:Observation
Week 4: Lean Focus: Identify Opportunities
Week 5: Lean Focus: Root Cause Analysis
Week 6: Lean Focus:Tools-5S,A3, PDCA to implement(includes basic PM)
Learning Outcomes: After completion of this course, students shall be able to:

Purpose: This course focuses on the tools and processes needed for lean practitioners to recognize and
access waste,to diagnose root causes and facilitate and implement process improvements.Students will
understand the different approaches and outcomes employed by process improvement and change
management.Student will be able to plan and facilitate process improvement events and workshops.
Description: Participants in the Green Belt program will understand basic change management and the
concepts and approaches to support lean process improvement.Student will also be able to plan and
facilitate lean events and workshops and be able to design and implement process improvements.

• Yellow is run at the same time as Green Belt($3,500 would be inclusive)
• Sessions 1 through 6 would include both Yellow Belt and Green belt students in same class
• Yellow belt and Green belt combined classes would have a max of 18 students
• Green Belt only classes would have a max of 8 students
