THESE NOTES SHALL APPEAR FOR PROJECTS FOR THE WATER UTIUTY. 2 ALL WORK MATERIAL SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CITY OF RENTON PLANNING/BUILDING /PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AND THE LATEST EDITION OF THE WSDOT /APWA STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS, AS APPROVED AND MODIFIED BY THE CITY OF RENTON IN THE RENTON STANDARD PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS. A SET OF APPROVED PLANS SHALL BE KEPT ON SITE AT ALL TIMES DURING CONSTRUCTION. 3. IT- THE TWO 2 -1/2 INCH HOSE NOZZLES SHALL BE FITTED WITH CAST IRON THREADED CAPS WITH OPERATING NUT OF THE SAME DESIGN AND PROPORTIONS AS THE HYDRANT STEM NUT. CAPS SHALL BE WITH SUITABLE NEOPRENE GASKETS FOR POSITIVE WATER TIGHTNESS UNDER TEST PRESSURES. THE 4 INCH PUMPER NOZZLE SHALL BE FITTED WITH A STORZ ADAPTER, 4 INCH SEATTLE THREAD X 5 INCH STORZ. STORZ ADAPTER SHALL BE FORGED AND /OR EXTRUDED 6061 -T6 ALUMINUM ALLOY, HARDCOAT 12• ANODIZED. THREADED END PORTION SHALL HAVE NO LUGS AND 2 SET SCREWS 180 DEGREES APART. STORZ FACE TO BE METAL, NO GASKET TO WEATHER. STORZ CAP TO HAVE SYNTHETIC MOLDED RUBBER GASKET, AND SHALL BE ATTACHED TO HYDRANT ADAPTER WITH 1/8 INCH COATED, STAINLESS STEEL, 13. AIRCRAFT CABLE. 14. ALL WATER MAINS 6 INCHES AND LARGER IN DIAMETER SHALL BE CLEANED WITH PIPE CLEANING "PIGS" 18. PRIOR TO DISINFECTION. THE "POLY PIGS" SHALL BE GIRARD INDUSTRIES AQUA SWAB -AS OR APPROVED EQUAL, 2 LB /CU. FT. DENSITY FOAM WITH 90A DUROMETER URETHANE RUBBER COATING ON THE REAR OF "PIG" ONLY. "PIGS" SHALL BE CYLINDER SHAPED WITH BULLET NOSE OR SQUARE END. THE CONTRACTOR WILL PERFORM THE CLEANING OPERATION. 19• ALL WATERMAINS AND SERVICES SHALL BE TESTED TO A MINIMUM OF 200 PSI OR 150 PSI OVER OPERATING PRESSURE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CITY OF RENTON AND THE WASHINGTON STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT. ALL PRESSURE TESTING SHALL BE DONE IN THE PRESENCE OF A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON. THE QUANTITY OF WATER LOST FROM THE MAIN SHALL NOT EXCEED THE NUMBER OF GALLONS PER HOUR AS LISTED IN CITY OF RENTON STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS 7- 11.3(11). THE LOSS IN PRESSURE SHALL NOT EXCEED 5 PSI DURING THE 2 HOUR TEST PERIOD. ALL WATERMAINS AND SERVICES SHALL BE DISINFECTED BY THE INJECTION OF A 50 PPM (MINIMUM CONCENTRATION) CHLORINE/WATER SOLUTION. DRY CALCIUM HYPOCHLORITE SHALL NOT BE PLACED IN THE PIPE AS LAID. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN(S) IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES (MUTCD) AS REQUIRED. PRIOR TO DISRUPTION OF ANY TRAFFIC, A TRAFFIC PLAN SHALL BE PREPARED AND SUBMITTED TO THE ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL. NO WORK SHALL COMMENCE UNTIL ALL APPROVED TRAFFIC CONTROL IS IN PLACE. 11. ALL CURB AND GUTTER, STREET GRADES, SIDEWALK GRADES, AND ANY OTHER VERTICAL AND /OR HORIZONTAL ALIGNMENT SHALL BE STAKED BY AN ENGINEERING OR SURVEYING FIRM CAPABLE OF PERFORMING SUCH WORK. 12. WHERE NEW ASPHALT JOINS EXISTING, THE EXISTING ASPHALT SHALL BE CUT TO A NEAT VERTICAL EDGE AND TACKED WITH ASPHALT EMULSION TYPE CSS -TIN ACCORDANCE PATH THE CITY OF RENTON STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS. THE NEW ASPHALT SHALL BE FEATHERED BACK OVER EXISTING TO PROVIDE FOR A SEAL AT THE SAW CUT LOCATION AND THE JOINT SEALED WITH GRADE AR -4000W PAVING ASPHALT. 13. FORM AND SUBGRADE INSPECTION BY THE INSPECTOR IS REQUIRED BEFORE POURING CONCRETE TWENTY -FOUR HOURS NOTICE IS REQUIRED FOR FORM INSPECTION. 14. ALL TESTING TO BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF RENTON CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS AND WSDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS. 15. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE DESIGN ENGINEER WITH RECORD DRAWINGS PRIOR TO FINAL APPROVAL. ALL DEVIATIONS FROM THE ORIGINAL PLANS MADE DURING THE COURSE OF THE CONSTRUCTION INCLUDING LOCATIONS, INVERTS, AND DEPTHS OF UTILITIES SHOULD BE CLEARLY MARKED ON THE RECORD DRAWINGS. 16. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEANING DIRT, MUD, AND OTHER CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS, WHICH MAY ACCUMULATE ON PAVED STREETS ADJACENT TO THE SITE AS A RESULT OF THE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY. CLEANING SHALL BE ON AN "AS NEEDED" BASIS 17. THE ENGINEER HAS ATTEMPTED TO SHOW ALL EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES AND STRUCTURES. APPEARANCE ON THESE PLANS, HOWEVER, DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE ACCURACY AND COMPLETENESS OF THE LOCATION OR EXISTENCE OF THESE UTILITIES AND /OR SUBSTRUCTURES. ALL COMPACTION OF SUBGRADE, ROCK, AND ASPHALT SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CITY OF RENTON CONSTRUCTION STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS. 19. IF CONSTRUCTION IS TO TAKE PLACE IN THE CITY RIGHT -OF -WAY, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE CITY AND OBTAIN ALL THE REQUIRED APPROVALS AND PERMITS. LANDSCAPE UNIMPROVED PORTIONS OF THE CITY RIGHT -OF -WAY PER THE CITY OF RENTON CONSTRUCTION STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS. 20.A PRECONSTRUCTION MEETING SHALL BE HELD WITH THE CITY OF RENTON CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION. 21. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO HAVE A COPY OF THESE APPROVED PLANS ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE AT ALL TIMES. 22. ANY CHANGES TO THE DESIGN SHALL FIRST BE REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY THE PROJECT ENGINEER AND CITY OF RENTON'S ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT. 23. PRIOR TO BACKFILL ALL MAINS AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE INSPECTED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY OF RENTON CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR. APPROVAL SHALL NOT RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR FOR CORRECTION OF ANY DEFICIENCIES AND /OR FAILURES AS DETERMINED BY SUBSEQUENT TESTING AND INSPECTIONS.
