SANITARY SEWER NOTES & SPECIFICATIONS
1 ALL WORKMATERIALS SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE STANDARDS AND
SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CITY OF RENTON UTILITY DEPARTMENTAND THE LATEST EDITION
OF THE WSDOT /APWA STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
2 THE HOURS OF WORK IN THE STREET RIGHT OF WAY SHALL BE LIMITED TO 8:30 A.M.
TO 330 P.M. ON WEEKDAYS UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED IN WRITING BY THE
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AT235 2620. ALL STREET CLOSURES, PARTIAL OR FULL,
SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE.
THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, FIRE DEPARTMENT, AND 911 SHALL BE NOTIFIED 24 HOURS IN
ADVANCE.
3 ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH "STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR
MUNICIPAL PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION" PREPARED BY WASHINGTON STATE CHAPTER
AMERICAN PUBLIC WORKS ASSOCIATION. LATEST EDITION (APWA) AND CITY OF RENTON
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS.
4 ALL LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UTILITIES SHOWN ARE APPROXIMATE AND IT SHALL BE THE
CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY THE TRUE AND CORRECT LOCATION SO AS TO
AVOID DAMAGE OR DISTURBANCE.
5 A PRECONSTRUCTION CONFERENCEAND A24 -HOUR NOTICE SHALL BE REQUIRED PRIOR
TO STARTING NEW CONSTRUCTION. CONTRACTOR SHALL SECUREALL NECESSARY
PERMITS PRIOR TO STARTING CONSTRUCTION. INSPECTION WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED BYA
REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE UTILITY
OEPARTMENT24 HOURS INADVANCE OF BACKFILLING ALL CONSTRUCTION.
6 CONTRACTOR IS SOLELYRESPONSIBLE FOR THE MEANS, METHODS AND SEQUENCES OF
CONSTRUCTION AND FOR THE SAFETY OF WORKERS AND OTHERS ON THE
CONSTRUCTION SITE.
7 CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN STREET USE AND ANY OTHER RELATED PERMITS PRIOR TO
ANY CONSTRUCTION.
8 PLANS APPROVED BY THE CITY OF RENTON, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT SHALL TAKE
PRECEDENCE OVERALL OTHER PLANS.
9 A COPY OF THESE APPROVED PLANS MUST BE ON THE JOB SITE WHENEVER
CONSTRUCTION IS IN PROGRESS.
10 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE CITY OF RENTON WITHANAS BUILT DRAWING
OF THE SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM WHICH HAS BEEN STAMPED AND SIGNED BYA
LICENSED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER OR LICENSED PROFESSIONAL SURVEYOR.
11 BACKFILL SHALL BE PLACED EQUALLY ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PIPE IN LAYERS WITH
LOOSE AVERAGE DEPTH OF 6INCHES, MAXIMUM DEPTH OF 8INCHES, THOROUGHLY
TAMPING EACH LAYER TO 95 PERCENT OF MAXIMUM 'DENSITY. THESECOMPACTED
LAYERS MUST EMEND FOR ONE PIPE DIAMETER ON EACH SIDE OF THE PIPE OR TO THE
SIDE OF THE TRENCH. MATERIALS TO COMPLETE THE FILL OVER PIPE SHALL BE THE
SAMEAS DESCRIBED.
12. OPEN CUT ROAD CROSSINGS FOR UTILITY TRENCHES ON EXISTING TRAVELED ROADWAY
SHALL BESACKFILLED WITH CRUSHED ROCKAND MECHANICALLY COMPACTED, CUTS
INTO THE EXISTING ASPHALTSHALL BE NEATLINE CUT WITH SAW INA CONTINUOUS LINE.
A TEMPORARYMIX PATCH MUST BE PLACED IMMEDIATELYAFTER SACKFILL AND
COMPACTION. A PERMANENT HOT MIX PATCH MALL BE PLACED WITHIN TEN DAYS AND
SHALL BE PER CITY OF RENTON CURRENT STANDARDS.
13 DATUM SHALL BE CITY OF RENTON, U.S.G. S.
14 ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE SEEDED AND MULCHED OR OTHERWISE STABILIZED TO
THE SATISFACTION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS FOR THE PREVENTION OF
ONSITE EROSION AFTER THE COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION.
15 ALL PIPE AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE LAID ON A PROPERLY PREPARED
FOUNDATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 02.3(1) OF THE CURRENT STATE OF
WASHINGTON STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION. THIS
SHALL INCLUDE NECESSARY LEVELING OF THE TRENCH BOTTOM OR THE TOP OF THE
FOUNDATION MATERIAL AS WELL AS PLACEMENT AND COMPACTION OR REQUIRED
BEDDING MATERIAL TO UNIFORM GRADE SO THAT THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE PIPE WILL
BE SUPPORTED ON A UNIFORMLY DENSE, UNYIELDING BASE. PIPE BEDDING SHALL BE
PEA GRAVEL FABOVE AND BELOW THE PIPE.
16 SANITARY SEWER PIPE SHALL BE POLYVINYL CHLORIDE (PVC), RUBBER - GASKETED ASTM
D 3034, SDR 35, OR DUCTILE IRON CLASS 50.
17 IN UNIMPROVED AREAS, MANHOLE SHALL EXTEND MINIMUM &INCH AND MAXIMUM
18 -INCH ABOVE FINISHED GRADE. IN PAVEDAREAS, COVER SHALL SLOPE IN ALL DIRECTIONS
TO MATCH PAVING.
EROSION & SEDIMENT CONTROL NOTES
1 PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION OR DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY, A PRECONSTRUCTION MEETING
SHALL BE HELD WITH THE CITY OF RENTON DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, DESIGN
ENGINEER.
2 ALL LIMITS OF CLEARING AND AREAS OF VEGETATION PRESERVATION PRESENTED ON THE
PLANS SHALL BE CLEARLY FLAGGED IN THE FIELD AND OBSERVED DURING CONSTRUCTION.
3 ALL REQUIRED SEDIMENTIEROSION CONTROL FACILITIES MUST BE CONSTRUCTED AND IN
OPERATION PRIOR TO LAND CLEARING AND /OR OTHER CONSTRUCTION TO INSURE THAT
SEDIMENT -LADEN WATER DOES NOT ENTER THE NATURAL DRAINAGE SYSTEM. ALL EROSION
AND SEDIMENT FACILITIES SHALL BE MAINTAINED INA SATISFACTORY CONDITION UNTIL SUCH
TIME THAT CLEARING AND /OR CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETED AND THE POTENTIAL FOR ONSITE
EROSION HAS PASSED. THE IMPLEMENTATION, MAINTENANCE, REPLACEMENTAND ADDITIONS
TO EROSION /SEDIMENTATION CONTROL SYSTEMS SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
PERMITTEE.
4 THE EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL SYSTEMS DEPICTED ON THIS DRAWING ARE
INTENDED TO BE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO MEET ANTICIPATED SITE CONDITIONS. AS
CONSTRUCTION PROGRESSES AND UNEXPECTED OR SEASONAL CONDITIONS DICTATE, THE
PERMITTEE SHALL ANTICIPATE THAT MORE EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL FACILITIES
WILL BE NECESSARY TO ENSURE COMPLETE SILTATION CONTROL ON THE PROPOSED SITE.
DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION, IT SHALL BE THE OBLIGATION AND RESPONSIBILITY
OF THE PERMITTEE TO ADDRESS ANY NEW CONDITIONS THAT MAY BE CREATED BY THEIR
ACTIVITIES AND TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL FACILITIES, OVER AND ABOVE MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS, AS MAY BE NEEDED TO PROTECTADJACENT PROPERTIES AND WATER
QUALITY OF THE RECEIVING DRAINAGE SYSTEM.
5 APPROVAL OF THIS PLAN IS FOR EROSION /SEDIMENTATION CONTROL ONLY. IT DOES NOT
CONSTITUTEANAPPROVAL OF STORM DRAINAGE DESIGN, SIZE OR LOCATION OF PIPES,
RESTRICTORS, CHANNELS, OR RETENTION FACILITIES.
6 DURING THE TIME PERIOD OF NOVEMBER 1 THROUGH MARCH 31, ALL PROJECT DISTURBED
SOIL AREAS GREATER THAN 5,000 SQUARE FEET, THATARE TO BE LEFT UNWORKED FOR MORE
THAN TWELVE (12) HOURS, SHALL BE COVERED BY MULCH, SODDING, OR PLASTIC COVERING.
7 ALL DISTURBED AREAS WHICH HAS BEEN STRIPPED OF VEGETATION AND WHERE NO
FURTHER WORK IS ANTICIPATED FOR A PERIOD OF 30 DAYS OR MORE MUST BE IMMEDIATELY
STABILIZED WITH MULCHING, GRASS PLANTING OR OTHER APPROVED EROSION CONTROL
TREATMENTAPPLICABLE TO THE TIME OF YEAR. GRASS SEEDING ALONE WILL SEACCEPTABLE
ONLYDURING THE MONTHS OFAPRIL THROUGH SEPTEMBER INCLUSIVE. SEEDING MAY
PROCEED, HOWEVER, WHENEVER IT IS IN THE INTEREST OF THE PERMITTEE, BUT MUST BE
AUGMENTED WITH MULCHING, NETTING, OR OTHER TREATMENT APPROVED BY THE CITY OF
RENTON, OUTSIDE THE SPECIFIED TIME PERIOD.
8 FOR ALL EROSION /SEDIMENTATION CONTROL PONDS WHERE THE DEAD STORAGE DEPTH
EXCEEDS 61NCHES SIDE SLOPES SHALL BE NO STEEPER THAN 3:1 AND A MINIMUM OF 3 FEET
HIGH FENCE IS REQUIRED ALL AROUND.
9 ATEMPORARY GRAVEL CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE PER STD DWG BR23 SHALL BE LOCATED
ATALL POINTS OF VEHICULAR INGRESS AND EGRESS TO THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
