N. - PLAN AND PROFILE 3 DETAILS I LOCATION MAP 1 =1 GENERAL NOTES: 1. Existing site improvements shown are based upon a survey by TCA Inc., dated 7/19/94 and City of Renton records. No warranty or guarantee of accuracy or completeness is either implied or expressed. Existing underground utilities and improvements have been shown on these drawings for the purpose of assisting the Contractor in locating said utilities and improvements in the field. The Contractor shall be responsible for checking actual locations in the field and checking with appropriate agencies that may have underground utilities and improvements within the project limits. The Contractor shall be solely responsible for any and all damage to underground utilities and improvements resulting from his operation. 2. All connections to new or existing concrete structures will be at manufactured knock -outs or the structure is to be core - drilled. 3. Prior to the start of construction activities, telephone (206) 277 -5570 a minimum of 24 hours in advance of required inspections. Inspection requests for the following workday must be received no later than 3:00 pm. The ONLY exception to the 24 -Hour Minimum scheduling requirement is in cases of bonafde emergencies. In cases of true emergencies (broken utilities, urgent traffic control problems, etc.) telephone 235 -2631. 4. There will be no guarantee of re- inspection on the same day for any work which is not ready at the time of the scheduled inspection. 5. Where a new pipe clears an existing or new utility by G' or less, an approved polyethylene plastic foam shall be placed as a cushion between the utilities. 6. In all cases where men, equipment, or material will in any way obstruct vision or inhibit normal traffic flow, adequate signs and flagmen will be required to protect motorists and pedestrians. In addition, the following personnel will be notified 24 hours prior to any work being performed within the street right -of -way: Street Maintenance Superintendent -- 235 -2615 Fire Department -- 235 -2642 Police Department -- 235 -2600 Engineering Division -- 235 -2631 Valley Communications Center -- 911 7. In the event difficult street crossings must be constructed in more than one continuous operation, the Engineering Division will endeavor to provide an inspector during each phase of construction so long as the Engineering Division is contacted 24 hours in advance at 235 -2631. 8. It shall be the sole responsibility of the Contractor to obtain street use and other related or required permits prior to any construction., activity on -site or in the City right -of -way. 9. The subgrodes under all areas to be paved shall be firm and unyielding, and compacted to 98% of the maximum density. (per Standard Proctor Test). Proof rolling may be required prior to paving to insure stability. 10. The Contractor shall adjust all existing and new manhole rims, drainage structure lids, valve boxes, and utility access structures to finish grade within areas affected by the proposed improvements. 11. All pavement, walk and curb removals shall be vertical saw cut at the boundaries of removal area. Removals shall be included in the total contract price. Contractor shall restore or replace all pavement, walks, curbs, driveways, walls, rockeries, landscaping including lawn, fences, utilities, meters, vaults, mailboxes and signs, or related items damaged by construction to original or better condition. 12. All street closures, partial or full, shall be approved by Public Works 24 hours in advance. 13. Th e hours of work in street right -of -way shall be limited to 7:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays only unless otherwise approved in writing by Public Works at 235 -2635. Truck hauling on City of Renton arterial streets shall be limited to 8:30am to 3:30P, . 14. Prior to any utility service interruptions to an individual residence, a minimum of 24 -hour written notice shall be given to the resident and the City of Renton. Contractor shall make all efforts to restore service within a reasonable time period. 15. Any work within the street right -of -way requires a separate permit and bond, and work must be performed by a licensed, bonded Contractor. BEFORE ANY CONSTRUCTION OR DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY OCCURS, A PRECONSTRUCTION MEETING MUST BE HELD WITH THE CITY OF RENTON DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS DESIGN ENGINEER. 2. All construction shall be in accordance with the "1994 Standard Specifications for Road, Bridge and Municipal Construction prepared by WSDOT /APWA, as amended by the City of Renton Department of Public Works, and the City of Renton Public Works Department Standard Details manual dated 2/1/91. 3. The storm drainage system shall be constructed according to the approved plans which are on file in the Department of Public Works. Any deviation from the approved plans will require written approval from the City of Renton Department of Public Works, Design Engineer or Storm Water Utility. 4. A copy of these approved plans must be on the job site whenever construction is in progress. 5. Datum shall be U.S.G.S. unless otherwise approved by City of Renton Department of Public Works. Reference benchmark and elevation are noted on the plans. 6. All sedimentation/erosioni facilities must be in e, ration prior to clearing and building construction, and they must be satisfactorily maintained until construction is completed and the potentiel for on -site erosion ha =U.,,,; 7. All retention /detention facilities must be installed and in operation prior to or in conjunction with .all co4jt9/ctioh' activity unless otherwise approved by the Department of Public Works, Storm Water Utility. 8. Grass seed may by applied by hydroseeding. The grass seed mixture, other than City of Renton. - poproved standard mixes, shall be submitted by a Landscape Architect and approved by the Department of Public Works, Storm Water utility. 9. All pipe and appurtenances shall be laid on a properly prepared foundation in accordance with Section 7- 02.3(1) of the current WSDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. This shall include necessary.. leveling of the trench bottom or the top of the foundation material as well as placement and compaction of required bedding material to uniform grade so that the entire length of the pipe will be supported on a uniformly dense unyielding base. All pipe bedding shall . the Class "C", with the exception of PVC pipe. All trench b shall be compacted to minimum 98% for pavement and structural fill and 95% otherwise, per ASTM D155 - bFIROVI Pea gravel bedding shall be 6" over and under PVC pipe. AY 10. Open cut road crossings thru existing public right -of -way will not be allowed unless specifically approved by City f Y of Renton Department of Public Works, Design Engineer. 14. Rock for erosion protection of roadside ditches, where required, shall be of sound quarry rock placed to a depth of 1 foot and must meet the following specifications: e- 8"/40 % -70% passing; 2 " -4" rock /30 % -40% passing; and -2" rock /10 % -20% passing. 15. All building downspout and footing drains shall be connected to the storm drainage system, unless approved by the Department of Public Works, Design Engineer or Storm Water Utility. An accurately dimensioned Certified as built drawing of this drainage system will be submitted to the City of Renton upon completion. 16. Issuance of the Building or Construction Permit *by the City of Renton does not relieve the Owner of the continuing legal obligation and /or liability connected with storm surface water disposition. Further, the City of Renton does not accept any obligation for the proper functioning and maintenance of the system provided during construction. 17. The Contractor shall be responsible for providing adequate safeguards, safety devices, protective equipment, flaggers, and any other needed actions to protect the life, health and safety of the public, and to protect property in connection with the performance of work covered by the contract. Any work within the traveled right -of -way that may interrupt normal traffic flow shall require an approved traffic control plan by the Traffic Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works. All sections of the WSDOT Standard Specifications Sec. 1- 07.23, Traffic Control, shall apply. Contractor shall prepare and file a Traffic Control Plan with the City of Renton, in 2 accordance with City requirements. An approved Traffic Control Plan shall be on file with the City prior to starting 0 work. J&2 18.
