ORDINANCE NO. 5566
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING
SUBSECTION 4-3-100C, EXEMPTIONS, OF CHAPTER 3, ENVIRONMENTAL
REGULATIONS AND OVERLAY DISTRICTS, OF TITLE IV (DEVELOPMENT
REGULATIONS) OF ORDINANCE NO. 4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON", TO ADD TWO AREAS
AS URBAN SEPARATOR OVERLAYS.
WHEREAS, the King County Countywide Planning Policies designate certain properties in
the County as "Urban Separators" and Countywide Policy LU-27 calls for the preservation of
Urban Separators as permanent low density lands which protect adjacent resource lands, Rural
Areas, and environmentally sensitive areas and states that the maintenance of these areas is a
regional as well as local concern and further provides that modification to development
regulations should have King County review and concurrence; and
WHEREAS, the Renton Comprehensive Plan Community Design element establishes
policies that designate areas that are low density areas and areas that are environmentally
sensitive or critical areas as Urban Separators; and
WHEREAS, the City seeks to ensure that Renton development regulations provide the
same or better level of protection for Urban Separators as is provided by King County
regulations; and
WHEREAS, the City having held a public hearing to consider the Urban Separator
designations on September 29, 2010, and the designations being in conformity with the City's
Comprehensive Plan, as amended, and the City Council having duly considered all matters
relevant thereto, and all parties having been heard appearing in support or opposition to the
matter;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Subsection 4-3-J0OC, Exemptions, of Chapter 3, Environmental
Regulations and Overlay Districts, of Title IV (Development Regulations) of Ordinance NO. 4260
entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington", is hereby amended
to add two new subsections, 4-3-jo^C3, entitled "Soos Creek Urban Separator", and 4-3-
JC.4, entitled "Lake Desire Urban Separator", as shown on Attachments A and B,
respectively.
SECTION II. This ordinance shall be effective upon its passage, approval, and thirty
(30) days after publication.
