ORDINANCE NO.5198
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON,WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTION 3-5-2 OF CHAPTER 5,FIRE DEPARTMENT,
AND SECTION 3-8-2 OF CHAPTER 8,POLICE DEPARTMENT,OF
TITLE m (DEPARTMENTS AND OFFICERS)OF ORDINANCE NO.
4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF RENTON,WASHINGTON"BY EXCLUDING THE FIRE CHIEF
AND POLICE CHIEF FROM THE CLASSIFIED CIVIL SERVICE
SYSTEM.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,WASHINGTON,DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I.Section 3-5-2 of Chapter 5,Fire Department,of Title III
(Departments and Officers)of Ordinance No.4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the
City of Renton,Washington"is hereby amended to read as follows:
The Fire Chief shall be appointed by the Mayor,subject to confirmation by a majority of
the City Council.The Fire Chief shall be excluded from the classified civil service system as
permitted by RCW 41.08.050.
SECTIONll.Section 3-8-2 of Chapter 8,Police Department,of Title ill
(Departments and Officers)of Ordinance No.4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the
City ofRenton,Washington"is hereby amended to read as follows:
The Police Chief shall be appointed by the Mayor,subject to confirmation by a majority
of the City Council.The Police Chief shall be excluded from the classified civil service system
as permitted by RCW 41.12.050(2).
SECTIONllI.
30 days after publication.
This ordinance shall be effective upon its passage,approval,and
