Home My WebLink AboutRES 3990CITY OF RENTON,WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO.3990 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON,WASHINGTON, APPROVING THE PETITION FOR THE ANNEXATION,BY ELECTION,OF CONTIGUOUS UNINCORPORATED TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF RENTON AND REFERRED TO AS THE WEST HILL ANNEXATION;STATING THE NUMBER OF REGISTERED VOTERS RESIDING THEREIN AS NEARLY AS MAY BE;AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO FILE WITH THE KING COUNTY BOUNDARY REVIEW BOARD A NOTICE OF INTENTION AS WELL AS TO FILE A CERTIFIED COpy OF THIS RESOLUTION WITH THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF KING COUNTY AND THE KING COUNTY BOUNDARY REVIEW BOARD. WHEREAS,a citizen's group currently pursuing potential annexation of the West Hill Area to the City of Renton,has submitted a 10%Notice of Intention to Commence Annexation proceedings to the City;and WHEREAS,the West Hill Area,consisting of approximately 1,857 acres,is located within the City of Renton's established Potential Annexation Area;and WHEREAS,the King County Records,Elections and Licensing Services Division certified the petition as having signatures representing at least ten percent of the registered voters who voted in the last election;and WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Renton,Washington,has determined that it would be in the best interests and general welfare of the City of Renton to annex the property within Renton's established Potential Annexation Area generally bounded by the City of Renton corporate boundary on the east,Lake Washington,South Ryan Street,and parcel lines to the north,59 th A venue South and Beacon Coal Mine Road South to the west,and parcel lines, Martin L.King Way South,and South 13 th Street to the south,as legally described in Exhibit "A"attached hereto and incorporated by reference as if fully set forth;and 1 RESOLUTION NO.3990 WHEREAS,the City Council approves the action proposed by the petitioners of the West Hill Annexation;and WHEREAS,there remain for the Renton City Council multiple considerations related to annexation which include evaluating available funding sources,evaluating fiscal impact,capital needs,and service levels to current residents which will be understood in 2009; NOW,THEREFORE,THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. SECTION II. approved. SECTION III. The above findings are true and correct in all respects. The petition for annexation by election for the West Hill Area is As nearly as can be determined the number of voters residing in the aforesaid territory is 7,134. SECTION IV. Renton. SECTIONV. The cost of said annexation election shall be paid by the City of The City Clerk shall file a certified copy of this Resolution with the Board of County Commissioners of King County,Washington and with the King County Boundary Review Board. SECTION VI.The City Clerk shall also file with the King County Boundary Review Board a Notice ofIntention hereof as required by RCW 36.93.090 et seq.
