CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
ORDINANCE NO. 4® 3 8
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTIONS 2-8-2 AND 2-8-4.B OF CHAPTER 8,
MUNICIPAL ARTS COMMISSION, OF TITLE II (COMMISSIONS AND
BOARDS), OF ORDINANCE NO. 4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF
GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON" BY STAGGERING THE TERMS OF COMMISSION
APPOINTMENTS AND BY REQUIRING CIP PROPOSALS TO BE
SUBMITTED TO THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT.
SECTION I. Sections 2-8-2 and 2-8-4.B of Chapter 8, Municipal Arts Commission, of
Title n (Commissions and Boards), of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances
of the City of Renton, Washington" are hereby amended to read as follows:
2-8-2: APPOINTMENTS AND COMMISSIONS: All such appointments to the
Commission shall be for three year terms, with one-third of the terms expiring each year. Any
vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term. All appointments heretofore made by the Mayor
and City Council to such Municipal Arts Commission are hereby confirmed. All members of the
Commission shall serve without compensation for such service.
2-8-4.B: The Commission shall make an annual review of all capital improvement
projects anticipated within the following two year period with the Mayor or his/her
representative to determine which projects are appropriate for inclusion of works of art and to
estimate the amount to be allocated for said purpose. If such inclusion is determined not to be
appropriate as to a given project, then the funds allocated therefor shall be expended as set forth
in section 2-8-7.C or as otherwise determined by the City Council. Copies of any proposals
prepared by the Commission shall likewise be furnished to the Community Services Department
of the City.
SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be effective upon its passage, approval, and thirty
days after publication.
