RESOLUTION NO. 3 54 8
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENTS BETWEEN THE CITY OF RENTON,
AND THE CITIES OF TUKWILA, DES MOINES, AND OTHER KING
COUNTY CITIES, FOR TEMPORARY CUSTODY OF INMATES
BEFORE THEIR TRANSFER TO THE YAKIMA COUNTY JAIL.
WHEREAS, Renton maintains a municipal jail pursuant to RCW 70.48; and
WHEREAS, Tukwila and Des Moines, as well as several other King County cities, do not
maintain a municipal jail; and
WHEREAS, Renton, Tukwila, Des Moines, and several other King County cities have
contracts with Yakima County to house long term inmates; and
WHEREAS, Renton and Yakima County have made arrangements to have inmates
transported from Renton to Yakima; and
WHEREAS, housing Tukwila and Des Moines inmates in the Renton jail before they are
transferred to Yakima County will facilitate their transfer; and
WHEREAS, housing inmates from other King County cities in the Renton jail before they
are transferred to Yakima County will facilitate their transfer;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above findings are true and correct in all respects.
SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into the
Interlocal Agreement between the City of Renton, the City of Tukwila and the City of Des

Moines for the temporary custody of inmates in the Renton jail before their transfer to the
Yakima County Jail.
SECTION III. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into
similar Interlocal Agreements between the City of Renton and other King Cpunty cities for the
temporary custody of inmates in the Renton jail before their transfer to the Yakima jail.
